I just noticed this today, and it's quite funny since it sounds really good too.
If you use the PMB as a three band compressor (turning off bands 2 and 4) and get the crossover points of band 1, 3 and 5 as close as possible and you boost all the bands by a slight amount.. what you end up with is a PULTEC style curve for the low and high bands.
This gives you a somewhat sweeter high-end and fatter low-end when processing. Imagine that... the UAD Pultec Multi-Band 8)
