from the people that I talked to, they said the concept was fantastic, but that the vp9000 never really worked like it was marketed - ie to truly make audio elastic. I am recently messing around with audio warp features in Live 5 and am loving the flexibility that it is giving in terms of how I can truly mold and shape audio clips. I was doing something similar with kontakt 1.5, but it was a bit more complicated and more often than not left artifacts.

It seems the Cakewalk/Roland alliance is bearing fruit. Along with some Roland softsynths, the Roland Variphrase technology has now been incorporated, into the latest SONAR 5 Producer Edition, in the way, of the Roland V-Vocal:

There is of course Celemony Melodyne which does exactely what Variphrase does and more and...probably better! ;)
