Tracking with 1176 and PLate 140

Hi guys,

just a little note to say that last week i tracked a session at 96k at ended up using the 1176 and some plate 140 while it was going down.

It was a simple logic session with a stereo backing track where i was tracking a lead vocal.

with buffers at 128 and process at medium, i could happily record this guy with software monitoring on and an 1176 in the monitor path plus a Plate 140 in a bus. UAD in \"logic live mode\" setting.

the whole experince was very pleasant, a lot like a TDM setup, but the 2 card system was at something like 40% load.

all good though, never dreamed of tracking through a UAD plug before...

James.

Yes, maybe it´s because in 96 Khz the 128 samples latency is
just 1,5 ms. So with 1176 it´s just 3 ms.

Hiya,

the latency was never going to be the issue as you note, i was just happy that the system could cope (and keep up) with 4 times the data rate at a buffer size of 128...

(even if the 2 card uad system performance was 42%.)

I did a session yesterday with a bass clarinet (2 mics) on a massive session with 40 tracks. It was my first time to try tracking with the UAD (with the new \"live mode\" for logic) I only had a plate 140 as a send on a bus (I was borrowing someone's 6176, so I didn't need any plugin comp on the way in) and tracking went without a hitch. I've never been able to track with a UA reverb on a track before. Nice. Buffer setting was 96....

I look forward to tracking with the 1176LN when I have to give the 6176 back.

Well, ok.

I don't.

I want the 6176!

*sigh* not an option right now.

But, if it works tracking with the 1176LN plugin, I'll be better off than I was before!!!

Ahh. now I understand the Topic!

Yes, I noticed those problems in Logic too, since Version 6.4.2.

It was caused by Reverb Units on live tracks...

and now it really works???? :?:

They should give logic a feature to freeze choosen plug-ins, the
way that nuendo/cubase has for over one year right now.

It´s hard to understand why they don´t do this... logic´s way
back in a lot of features in compare to it´s competitors. :(

Just a heads up,

if you've been using \"Logic Live Mode\" with the UAD1, remember to turn it back off before you use PDC set to ALL and a UA plug in a bus or aux...

(you'll get a metallic digital distortion and the bus/aux will play early)
