Turning on Unison Preamp Mutes Monitors

Just starting to work with Apollo Twin X. All sounds good until I choose a preamp in the Unison slot for the Hi-Z channel. Then all sound stops, though the sliders show the same signal as when the preamps aren't used. If I turn off the preamp once loaded, sound resumes. When I turn it on, no sound. When I remove the preamp, monitors respond normally. If I load a preamp as an insert, it works properly. How do I get the preamps in the unison slot to respond properly? Thx.

Just happened to read that the Apollo should be turned on first and then the computer. I've been doing the reverse and running into constant problems. I did this and now all works properly. I didn't see this in the manual.

On my 2017 Mac, I had to power up my Apollo first.
In my current 2020 rig it doesn’t seem to matter the order.
