UA Control Panel says - Connect UA device - but I have native plugins so don't need a device?

I'm signed into iLok, which shows my plugins as active, and in UA Connect they're all installed. When I first did this, I was able to use them on Reaper. Now when I try to use the plugins on Reaper I get this message: "uad plug-ins are disabled because no uad hardware is detected" -- and the UA Meter and Control Panel just says "Connect UA device". However, I have native plugins, so I didn't think I needed a device (and I'd been using them without a device already). Not sure what to do next!

It sounds like you are selecting the UAD-2 version of the plugin instead of the UADx version.

If you don't have a device, you only need UA Connect. UAD software for Apollos (devices) installs Console, UA Meter and Control Panel, and the non-native versions.

Oh interesting - so UAD-2 versions need a device, and UADx versions do not? If I'm "selecting" the wrong version, is there a way to fix that?
Sorry if these are dumb questions -- it's all new to me!

Do you own an Apollo or UAD Satellite?

UAD-2 (needs device with DSP) plug-ins are installed with the UAD installer.
UADx (Native) are installed with the UA Connect app. (also needs an iLok account)

No I don't have an Apollo or UAD Satellite.
I downloaded my plugins with the UA Connect app. But I also downloaded the UA Console and UA Meter & Control Panel because I thought I needed them.

Since you have no UAD hardware, you can uninstall the UA Console/Meter/Control Panel. That'll remove the UAD-2 plug-ins from your system.

As to being in REAPER, the UAD-2 VST2 plug-ins start with "VST:" and then have the plug-in name/title. The VST3 UAD-2 start with "VST3: UAD" and the VST3 UAD(x) plug-ins start with "VST3: UADx".
