UA Gate Plugin

I hope UA will release a gate plugin. Something with attack, release, ratio, threshold, side-chain-eq, and expanding options. Something like a nice Aphex, Drawmer, or dbx.

We have so many damn EQ's and compressors now... and UA even gave us reverbs and chorus effects... what about the a GATE? I know it's not as exciting and good for marketing as a Roland Chorus or a Neve EQ, but a gate is far more needed! Even Duende (with no reverbs or effects) comes with a gate!

what's wrong with native?
I'm running a fully DSP system here. It's a commercial recording studio. I find that as soon as I start adding native plugins things start going wrong. I started with native plugins... used them sinse WaveLab 1.0 and Cubase VST 3.5 in the mid-late 90's. I just recently switched to using nothing but UAD-1 and Powercore plugins, and it's been amazing how much better everything performs, how reliable and predictable the performance is, and how great everything sounds (i know, the sound has nothing to do with dsp or native, but the uad and pc plugs really sound great).

Anyhow... it's working for me... and working good is good for business.

Hmm... IMHO, you're missing out on amazing tools not available on either platform: URS, PSP, iZotope, Voxengo to name a few. I used to think like you: 'DSP only', but thankfully I changed my mind.

I agree with you in regards to many other quality plugins that are native (some even better)... that's not what I'm saying.

I simply like the reliability & consistancy of performance when I use nothing but DSP... it's a business decision, and when your studio runs 7 days a week, 18 hours a day, experiancing something the results in more consistant and reliable (and repeatable) performance is money in the bank!
