Welcome to our user run, independent forum.

May I suggest that in the future when you join other forums you don't use your first post to insult one of the moderators. Unfortunately you've missed that chance here.

For both of you I would suggest contacting UA's tech support. If you are doing 'serious work' then that would be the wise choice.

Chances are someone will come along and be nice enough to answer your question here, I would if I knew what was wrong but there is a lot of missing data.

We need the same information that the OFFICIAL tech support will need (did I mention that you should call them?).

System specs, especially audio card/interface and conditions the problem happens under are the bare minimum.

Ah, I see pony down has offered some useful info... but still a question regarding UA's position on a bug or problem is best addressed via the UA tech support people. If calling them is too expensive try email. It has worked for me in the past.

Welcome.

In the words of your favorite rapper. \"True Dat\" I'll try Tech support.

I think I was annoyed because I almost lost my hearing in my Sony headphones on my first experience with the card.

I came here for a quick answer and saw a comment on someone leaving their caps lock on. petty stuff pisses me off. Like I said I was not in a good mood.

I will throw my set-up data in my signature below.

By the way I was not trying to imply that only I do serious work. Poor choice of language on my part.

I realize that in writting that may have sounded a bit pompous but I am a very humble person. Even for a RECORDING GOD!!!

Since cAPS already covered the quick answer stuff, I really can't see what can piss you off when a moderator asks a new member to quit writing in caps, something that usually annoys readers (in other forums, I may skip the topic if I see something like this).

Sorry I can't be more helpful, I'm on PC.

Good luck!

i started the thread and didnt think having caps lock on was a big deal... honestly its nothing in the scheme of things, but hey people are funny, what can i say... I just wanted to see what the general user base has been through.. i doubt tech support can do anything to fix what we have experienced unless they come out with a uad software update... so tech support is not really an option with this one... and if i offended anybody with my capslock being on i apologize... lol

Hiya motumacman...

I hope you can get your problem solved. I also didnt mean to scare you with my gruff reply to Taisoul. And don't really want to scare him either...

I really did mean to welcome you. ;) This is a great forum.

If you've been around on the net for a while you should already know that requests for not typing in all caps are common and go back to the beginning of time (at least the biginning of things like USENET and WWW based forums). If you google up \"net ettiquite\" you will find the admonition to not use all caps high on just about any short list of rules.

All that aside, If you really don't want to call support, and you cannot be more specific about your screeching sound (Does it ALWAYS happen? does it happen with certain plugins? You are using a MOTU _______, you are using Performer? Pro tools? Logic? It happens in all projects? It happens in certain projects? you have a G__ processor? That sort of stuff.) then your best bet is to see what other threads in the Mac area say about it.

Good luck.

Just an update guys. The noise has not happened to me since I first installed the card. I don't know what fixed it but I'm happy.

Now if the AMD issue is licked I will do flips.

It took me a long time to jump on board with UAD and I am so friggin giddy with the quality. I feel like the training wheels of my studio were taken off and i'm winning the Tour de France!

Remarkable.

Sorry for gushing.

I just had the lovely experience (can you say \"OW\") with the screeching noise.
Man, scared the poopy out of me.
I normally use a Mackie Onyx 400f. However, the Onyx is being replaced by Mackie so I was using my PodXT and also tried my MBox.
All was fine for a few minutes, then this clicking started. That's when I tried the Mbox thinking it may be the Pod. About a quarter of the way through the tune, blamo, screeching (I'm still ascared!).
Went back to the Pod and the screech happened again. I am going to reboot the machine and try the Pod again (at a lower volume). Maybe it is a USB thing?
I put my third card in my G5 (dual 2.0 with all PCI slots, ATI 9650 running a 30\"display)all seems cool (except for the screech).
Would there be any recommendations for setting the MIN_GNT for three cards (with Logic 7.1.1)?
I will post any success once I get my Onyx back.
Regards,
Rich

Definately seems to be USB related. When I use the internal sound card on my G5, there are no clicks, pops etc.
Everything is kickin' booty :p

Rich

I am experiencing something similar. I am using 3.9 at the moment because of incompatibility issues wuth Protools 7.0. Everytime I use Realverb for a few minutes I get the loud screeching noise and all my meters peg until I remove Realverb. Is this a problem with the 3.9 release or is it still happening with 4.1? I have a EX-1 on every track, and 1 instance of the Plate 140 and Realverb. If I substitute another Plate 140, everything works fine.

I'm back!

I have the most recent update and it is happening again and now more frequently. I'm surprised that this is not being addressed (as far as I know anyway) since it is happeneing to so many people with different set ups.

Sometimes it seems to be a combination of plugins that causes it but I can't be sure.

I had tinitus before I got the card and now I'm going deaf.

Has anyone resolved this yet?

HELP!

Noise update

I think I figured it out.

The problem seems to happens when I drive the plugins to hot.
If your near the red and getting the evil noise, try backing of all the levels.

Basic gain staging is back I guess.

We should all do this in practice anyway but I started taking the technology for granted.

Don't overload your plugs and busses and you should be cool.
