uad-1 card not recognized after new install

I recently upgraded my DAW. I went from a Dell in which my uad card was working perfectly, to a custom built ( by ADK pro audio ) daw. It has a new P35 chipset/motherboard, 4 gigs of ram, 2.4 gig quad core, with multiple hard drives.

I followed the instructions to the letter as far as reinstalling the card. Software first (newest version), card last. I will add that this computer is not going to be connected to the internet, so I burned the newest version, along with my authorizations to a cd. I then of course had to tell the installer where to go ( as opposed to logging on to the net ), to complete the software loading.

At any rate the install goes fine. I then put in the card. The hardware wizard takes over, finishes and states my new hardware is ready to use. The problem is, when I open the meter and go to system info, it simply states there is no device found, or something like that. Not only that, all of my authorized plugs say I have only one day left in demo, AND none of them work in my projects (obviously because my card isn't recognized).

I've taken the card back to my dell system to see if it recognizes it there. I believe it does as after the install all of authorizations are current. The only problem here though is when I open the system info up the place where the device info is, is simply blank. Could this be because my dell no longer has a sound card installed at the moment?

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated as I truly love these plugs. I've already spoken with ADK computers and at this point they are trying to help me trouble shoot, .. but state that they've successfully installed uad cards in this new system for other clients with no problems.

Thanks,
Marc

I think you should try again from scratch...if the ADK system came with a DVD that allows you to reinstall the image, I would give that a shot...then try again...

The other thing is to look for IRQ conflicts....and maybe try a different PCI or PCI-X slot..

what is your machines configuration...?

Did ADK know you were going to put a UAD-1 card in, if so I imagine they should have set up the machine so that you would be able to do that...

When you instal the UAD can you see the UAD card in device manager...?

No DVD from ADK,.. don't really know what you're talking about, "reinstall the image"?

Not sure how to check for IRQ conflicts, but I did already try another pci slot. I've started from scratch at least 4 or five times now, ... and every time the end result is " no devices present, card 1 not available " . And this is AFTER the hardware wizard informs me that all is well.

Not sure what exact system config you're referring to:

2.4 gig quad core
P35 chipset
1333 front side bus
160 gig system drive
400 gig audio drive
400 gig samples drive

As I said, the guys at ADK have already installed UAD card(s) for other customers, with no problems, ... AND they were aware that I had one card and was going to install it myself,... so, according to ADK their system should have been good to go, so to speak.

I checked in the device manager, and saw nothing labled Universal Audio.

I'm stumped for sure.

I am having the exact same problem at the moment.
I had to uninstall and re-install and since I did that, (one card at a time), I have problems if both cards are in place.

I managed to get one card working OK, but after I added the second one the system couldn't load the driver properly showing 'Error 10' and crashed shortly afterwards.

Since then the system does not recognise the cards at all. Nothing in the Device Manager.

I too am stumped, I really hope someone here can help.

I've just finished doing a complete system re-install with Acronis True Image, and after a little playing around, everything is working again as it should.

Could you post system specs?

HI Marc,
sorry for the delay. i only pop in here about 1 time a week vs other forums on a daily basis.

i hope by now you have this resolved. (this is why we ask you to send us your gear so we can install it for you for free)

you do have a recovery dvd from us.

that system will handle 4 UADs and a PCI/PCIe interface
or 4 and a firewire interface.

Dumb question  I seem to remember I re-authorise my plugs by dropping my new reg file on the performance meter? Sorry.
