Hi!

I know the G4 400 is kinda slow runing on OSX but shoulden´t uad-1 work ok with the vst.to.rtas.adapter and Protools LE 6.4?.
I am new to mac and trying to help my mac friend that don´t like to config his computer, he is kinda scared of doning that kinda stuff :).

We get this message just after loading one uad-1 plugin( DAE error -6042 PCI bus too busy during playback) but if we only load protools plugins there is no problems.
We have set buffer to 1024 in protools and same on the vst.to.rtas.adapter but still we get that -6042 message just after one uad plugin.
There is only Graphic Agp, Digi 001 and Uad-1 card in the computer.
Is there any way to optimize this system so it will work better or is the G4 400 to slow for uad-1 using OSX 10.3.4 and Protools LE 6.4?.
Would be great the get some tip here :)

Hi,

I got a G4 400 myself, using it with one UAD-1 card. It works fine. But I run Logic audio, and I did a lot of optimizing stuff on OSX (mostly with Moxoptimize and onyx), to wake up my old computer from his kind of pushy attitude..

The only problems I have are some \"system overload\" error(obviously), then I bounce. My real problem is those digital clicks on \"heavy\" mix. But it seems to be a PCI bandwidth problem, and seems that many other people do have those same clicks appearing...even with the latest computers.
So your problem must be a DAE problem.

I had a lot of trouble with PTLE and the UAD . I choose to go with logic and the UAD .

But heres some tips I found

Using lower buffer settings ( actually every song seemed to need a different buffer )

also MN_ GNT thingy set to 64

also Using 2 cards is not practical one is better .

Im on a 1ghx mac and the UAD did cripple my use of native plugins

I suggest using UAd plugin first and bouncing the effects so you can then use native
