UAD-1 v4.5.1 Windows (x64/Vista) Preview officially released

Hi Everyone,
The x64/Vista Windows v4.5.1 Preview has been officially released:

About Windows v4.5.1 Preview Release 1

The UAD Powered Plug-Ins Version 4.5.1 Preview Release 1 for Windows is software developed for compatibility with 64-bit operating systems. The UAD v4.5.1 Preview can be used with UAD-1 (PCI/PCI-X) and UAD-1e (PCIe) cards under VST and RTAS.

We are calling this a \"preview release\" because significant software changes were required to produce the 64-bit version of UAD software, and we want to make sure everything is absolutely correct before we release the final 4.5.1 version. All Windows users (including 32-bit OS users) are invited to use this software.

IMPORTANT: We have tested this release extensively in-house. However, because this is only a preview and not a final release, you agree to use it at your own risk. We recommend backing up your data before using v4.5.1 Preview, and using version 4.5.0 for mission-critical sessions.

Supported operating systems in v4.5.1 PR1

Microsoft Windows XP (Pro and Home only)
Microsoft Windows XP x64 Edition
Microsoft Windows Server 2003
May function with Windows Vista (32-bit and x64) but is not yet officially supported
Full support for Windows Vista is currently planned for UAD Powered Plug-Ins v4.6.0

Download, further details, and issue submission form can all be found here:

Thanks everyone!

I don't know if this is relavent but is there any benefit to using these drivers on a 32-bit system or is it just bug fixes for that platform?

This preview is primarily for x64 and Vista support, however, we would encourage all Windows users to try the preview and report any issues that they may have.

This v4.5.1 preview will be the foundation for v4.6 and versions going forward so we'd like to get as large a coverage of users as possible so that any possible issues can be reported and fixed as quickly as possible.

Is a little little little something added to improve the load-balancing? :D

One thing I did notice is, the load adapts a bit quicker now. The memory load barely registers at what is used to. It just feels a bit quicker now.

MAC OSX Tiger 64 bit Version ?

Seems us Apple owners had 64 bit before Windows, Is there going to be a Mac OSX Tiger 64 bit version? Since the G5 is 64bit Physical Architecture and Tiger is 64 bit OS and there are tons of Pro Studios with G5's, shouldn't there be an Apple version??

...just not installed or tested by UA on Windows XP 64.

 Q.
If UA is hard up for cash I can donate a cheap OEM version of XP64 so they can have at least one workstation to properly beta test on.

Hi Guys,
I'm not sure how this information about us not having systems to test x64 was heard or interpreted, but we do very much indeed have x64 systems and OSes and we have tested with them! We did not see this issue with any of our internal systems nor was it reported by any of our beta testers running x64 systems.

Also, please do not interpret this as us saying that it is not a problem nor that are we ignoring it by saying \"well it didn't happen here\". We realize there is a problem and are working on reproducing it on a machine here so that engineering can debug. I'm sure all customer service was trying to say is that, at this point, we don't know exactly what the problem is but we are working on a solution.

If you have not already submitted an issue report with your system specs, please do so. This will greatly help us with narrowing down possible differences in your systems from those of our internal testing groups and ultimately creating a reproducible case for our software engineers.

That's what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE :!:

Too bad, I don't have an issue

Cheers,
bM3w

XP64 and Vista as in Vista 32 or Vista 64 as I can't get it to work with Vista 32

There is NO 64bit support....not if you have \"over 2 ghz of Ram\"...UAD-1 won't operate, no fix in site, just got off the phone with tech support.
Nice waste of my $1000 bucks! and No, I'm not going to dumb-down my Ram for some plugins, thanks just the same ;)

Well IMO you have not to justify how spending your money, nor what you want to ditch at anytime... We are in a free land, isn't?
