is there a particular best practice procedure for updating on PC? Im kinda terrified of bricking something now that I read a couple threads where hardware was bricked in the middle of an update. Maybe better to skip small incremental updates?

Not sure what to tell you Bruce.

I've been a UAD users since 2012 and have never an issue with an update. That includes the last year or so with a Lenovo laptop added to the mix.

Maybe other PC users will chime in with advice?

Is firmware for cards and interfaces different? Is there a way to update the interface but not the cards? Would that even work together?

If you installed the update previous to this one, it won't update the firmware again unless you're running USB sats or a Solo USB.
Just did my TB PC and all is well.
Also, I've never had a bricked firmware since the beginning of my UAD days about 15 years ago.

That’s helpful thank you.

Just updated. I dont think any firmware installed, BUT it was a bitch to get the installer to actually install. Kept clicking on it and got the “you didn’t get this from the store, install anyway” dialog box. Kept hitting install anyway and nothing. Deleted, redownloaded same thing. Restarted, same problem. When I checked for compatibility issues, suddenly the install started. Weird.

Well, I just tried to update to 9.15.1 since I wanted to wait for the bugs to be sorted out.

Installed it, and now I have a completely dead system. The Mac software installed, and then I get prompted to update the firmware on all 4 UAD devices. (The prompts come in immediate succession.) And when I click LOAD, nothing happens.

So now all my UAD software can't communicate with the devices.

Now what do I do?

Have you power cycled and rebooted?

Rerun the installer?

Force a FW reload?

Also, contact support.

Reinstalled several times.
Rebooted several times.
Power cycled several times.

Called support. They don't work on Wednesdays.

Don't know how to force a FW update. I some somewhere about dragging a BIN file on top of the Control Panel. I got the same prompt to install FW and nothing happens.

Windows 10 or newer required for v9.15.1? Tried updating to v9.15.1 on Windows 8.1 Pro and I get "UAD Software requires Windows 10 or higher".

After update I am getting Error -38 Plugin Disabled and intermittent static noise issues. I can temporarily get rid of the static by changing latency setting in Console anywhere from 128 to 2048. This is the return of issues I had completely fixed for the last year after being plagued with the same problems for previous 18 months. Spent endless time with support, rebuilding machines and building new machine. Bought new cables, TB2->3 converters, a new $4500 computer, reinstalled DAWs and OSs on multiple machines using Mac and Windows 10. Absolute nightmare with this returning. I've spent way more time on UAD hardware issues than recording over the last three years.

I was having issues with the Tubetech compressor mk2 ... any news on this one?
Same. Stops working. Didn't feel like finding out why, just switched to something else.
