uad and mac for a novice(pc user)

hi all of you , i own and use 2 uad on my pc since 3 years with logic 551

Today, i m thinking about buying a mac to get logic 7, i m on a G4 bi pro or a g5 1.8 mono, do i have to be vigilent on the type of mac (number of pci slots etc...)?

i never had a mac so ............
