UAD and Quad Core

No problems here.

Check my setup for a working system that can handle many UAD cards.

You don't have to buy this processor though. There are cheaper options now.

Thanks, my thoughts are:
Motherboard - Intel DP35DPM
CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q-6600
So hopefully everything will play nice.

UAD and Quad core

Hi!

I've just bought Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2.4GHz, SKT775 but I'm not shure if I should open the package, will it work with UAD-1 PCI cards? Any experience?

As MOBO I've ordered Asus Commando.

I'm still running cubase sx 3. I guess I should upgrade to get tha advantage of the quad!?

If anyone can help me i'll be humbly greatful!

There is a couple of post running on this so:
My quad core arrived tonight - a beautiful PAQ (as per Sound on Sound) the most silent and powerful pc I've every owned.
I'm installing Cubase 4, UAD and powercore next - I'll let you know how it goes. Peter from PAQ came over with the pc (now thats customer service) and we really could not tell if it was even running it's so silent - wow. It's also a work of art a real beauty

Any news??? Any problems with UAD-1 card? I got an IP35 Pro and the UAD refuses to co-exist with any gfx card :-(

As you may have already read in another post of mine, I coudn't get the IP35 (Q6600) to work properly with UAD, either.

That makes me feel MUCH more confident... Check out my recent thread :)

I have done a lot of research and found this to be best suited for my needs!!! The RAM is ideal for the MoBo, the MoBo is ideal for my card configuration, etc, etc...

Cheers,
Peter

I've recently upgraded to the same CPU and had no probs with the UAD PCI, I'm also using a ASUS Mo'board.

I'd rather see how Pip's system works first. Check this one out:

At this point everything appears to playing together without any problems:

Motherboard - Intel DP35DPM
CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q-6600

I'll be running more extensive tests this week but so far so good, the UAD is in and working.
:D

So with three PCI and Thre Pcie X1 and 1 PCIE X16. Should I expect any ICQ problems with this card If I try to install 2 UAD Pci cards. 1 RME 9632 PCI and TWO UAD PCIe cards along with a Graphic card in the PCIeX16?

pip probably got his money's worth by buying it prebuilt with XP.
I've checked newegg reviews and there are numerous accounts of issues with bios upgrades and problems installing XP on the Intel DP35DPM.
Be prepared!

I think I did get my money worth, the pc is fast and silent. The customer service from PaQ was fantastic, Peter (the owner) came over and saw the final installation of sound card/UAD etc himself. I strongly believe they are currently the best audio pc builders in the uK and only charge internet prices for your components plus a build fee. The case, as per the recent Sound OnSound review are world class.

I'm running the following combination here, and all seems perfectly stable so far (10 days in almost now)
ASUS Commando Mobo
ASUS EN8500GT NVidia Graphics powering 2 LG 226 Widescreen monitors.
Intel Q6700 chip
2 Gb DDR2 PC6400 RAM
2 UAD-1 Cards (In PCI Slots 3 & 4)
RME HDSP 9652 in PCI 1
Tekram DC-390 U2/W SCSI controller in PCI 2

PCI-e slot 2 is empty right now, and a third UAD-1 is looking more & more like a good idea to me right now.
