UAD and Waveburner Issues

Hi Everyone,

I've just started using Waveburner (although I don't think I will be for long!) and I've noticed what might be a bug between UAD and Waveburner. When I burn to disk using Logic's plugins in Waveburner I have no problems. However, today I added Precision Equalizer to the chain and it wouldn't burn at all, in fact, it just stalled. Then I got an error message saying that there was something wrong (I didn't write down the error code so I can't say which one it was). I tried a couple of more times to burn it as this particular set up (minus the PE) had been burning fine, but still no luck. Then I removed the PE and everything was back to normal and it burned to disk without a problem. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just lucky?

Sorry

Sorry I didn't reply, it seems that some emails have gotten blocked for some reason and I wasn't notified of any response. Yes, I'm running the latest of everything and still having trouble. Thanks

Works fine here. WB 1.1.2 OSX 10.3.9 (G5) with UAD 4.0 and 10.4.3 (G4 powerbook) using only AU's and built in plugs.

thanks Asher,

I will try with a set of different audiofiles and see if I can get it to work.
I asume you can use it with uad plugins? And does offline bouncing in Logic work with the uad?

Hi Chris;

don't you get clicks and plops during the bounces?

... nope all fine. Also fine doing offline bounces in Logic.... though I don't do these so much now: Use an RME FF800 with outs going to the desk to access various bits of outboard - mix goes to an ISA428 with digi i/o to RME Hammerfall at 96/24k.

A trick I used when cpu was at max, and clicks and pops were happening was to record the stereo mix back into Logic, and stop and drop in a few bars back whenever a click occurred... once you've made it all the way through the track bounce the completed "edit" into a single file. Works great and lets you mix at the edge of your machines capability.

ok, good to know it's possible 8) I work the same way you do but i tested the offline bounce in logic to see if it was any better. It was, but not flawless. For mastering I would prefer waveburner, if only...
But we'll see, gonna test it tomorrow

cheers

well, I've done some tests with different files. At first I was optimistic because I didn't hear obvious clicks but after a phase cancelation check I found some difference between two identical bounced files. Pinning it down to the sample (which btw is a pain in the b-hole with logic because a) the waveforms don't draw right when scrolling and b) zoomed in Logic doesn't exactly follow the cursor) I saw that there were random snippets of totally different audio inserted in one of the files, just some samples; between 5 and 30 in the files I checked . They are not obvious like digital spikes, it is still normal sound, but they can manifest themselfs as pops and clicks when the random audio differs too much from the original wave.

Because I do serious mastering for clients this is no good, though for a demo it's ok.

Logic cancels completely all the time, but only when bouncing realtime. The errors during offline bouncing are way less than in waveburner though.

And I just learned to capture an image on a mac, so here's the problem
