UAD Crashing w/ Cubase

Got some freezing going on wwhenever I choose a UAD plug. Recently upgraded Cubase and UAD-1 to most current versions. The scenario is this. I set up a new song, import some audio, go to the insert window, assign CS-1 and FREEZE. I have to do a manual shutdown with the power button.

I have checked the Cubase \"Plug-in information\" window and the UAD-1 plugins all say version 1.0. Is this normal when I have just upgraded to 3.8. Other plug-ins reflect the current ver of the software.

I had a stable system before recent upgrades.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Steve,
Is this the VST Version column that it is showing \"1.0\"?
This is the VST spec version that the UAD-1 plugs are compliant with and should read \"2.2\" (That's what I am showing in Nuendo 2 with 3.8 of UAD-1 software).

Try re-installing from the UAD-1 3.8 VST installer and then (after Restarting) repair the permissions on the system drive. Also, it can't hurt to run a disk utility like Diskwarrior (or similar app) to make sure everything is good with your system directory tree.

I uninstalled, restarted and then reinstalled UAD-1 and I have the same problem. I am backing up some drives before I run Disk Warrior. I guess I will reinstall Cubase if that does not help. Will check back.

The plugins were showing up in the Plug-in Info window in Cubase as ver2.2....the window on the far left said ver 1.0. Not sure what thats all about but it was my mistake.

Hello,

Be sure that your UAD-1 Card does'nt share irq with other peripheral, i had the same problem : my sound card and one of my uad cards shared the same irq and i had constant freezes but since i moved the cards all is working very well (if two uad cards share the same irq it is not a problem, personally i have 2 irq shared between 4 uad cards and i have no freezes)

Solved. With the help of John from Sweetwater the problem turned out being a hard drive problem. Some bad blocks had developed where the UAD-1 software was residing. New drive.....so far so good.

That stock drive in the G-5 dual 2 sure had some low mileage to crash so soon.

Thanks for all the help.
