UAD for Digital Performer is terrible!

As a Digital Performer user, I want to caution anyone else to NOT buy the UAD plugs. The latency issue is crippling. They are virtually impossible to use without a nightmare of repatching, rebussing, and setting and resetting delay compensation pluggins. And you will NOT be able to record/track with them. They are essentially useless - except that you could strap them across the master bus at the very end of a mixdown. All in all - get Waves or T-Racks, trust me.

As a DP user, not having automatic delay compensation does bug me, but it's worth it for the sound. You CERTAINLY WON'T get this sound from Waves or T-Racks. If it bothered me that much, I'd switch to Nuendo before ditching my UAD. However, I love DP enough to stick it out.

Doesn't that say more about DP than UAD-1 though???

Bad advice, Waves and t-racks will add latency also and as i've said for years a small delay can be as bad or worse than a large delay when mixing, especially multitracked drums where phasing will occur between the tracks if they arent perfectly aligned, and since these other plugs have various latency amounts it gets real hard to get perfect alignment like you can with uad-1.

The sad fact is the DP's designers need to get with the rest of the world, like Nuendo and Pro Tools HD acceland every other hi end DAW, and implement full plugin delay compensation.

Not having this feature will likely kill DP in the pro market, because as i said, ALL plugins have latency.

True, if your host app does not have full plugin delay compensation, then using the UAD-1 can be a PITA. Fortunately though, most major audio host apps today (SONAR, Nuendo 2, Cubase SX 2, Samplitude 7, Vegas 5, ACID Pro 4) have full PDC and it is not a problem, just plug and play, like using any other native effect. A glaring weakness in DP, for sure, IMO. BUT, that is not UA's fault and I'll take the UAD-1's effects over Waves & T-Racks any day of the week.

Spot on Tony.
Though compensating for plugin latency in DP (my prefered platform) is a pain it's no harder to nudge something 1024 samples then it is 41 samples. Or 64 or........
Hopefully ADC will be added in our lifetimes.

i must say as DP user i don't agree.. sure, auto-delay-compensation would be nice.. and we'll see it soon... but, it's REALLY not very hard to insert a delay comp plug in on an audio track.. i mean, c'mon...

patching, repatching, resetting? when?? if you add a plug in to a track with a delay comp plug in, just subtract one number from the delay comp plug in.. 2 clicks.. one to open the plug.. one to subtract a number.. it's not so hard.

for me DP is so far superior to any other DAW and the UAD so much more useful than most of my other plug ins.. that i'm willing to put up with the delay comp plug in.. and i have a feeling by the next DP update we'll see ADC.

I 2nd taylors emotion. I have mixed 16 songs with DP and the UAD-1.

I have only had one annoying session.

And although the lack of ADC is annoying, it has never stopped me from working nor frustrated me so much I plan to jump ship.

Nope DP4 all the way baby!!!!!!
