I have prety much remained quiet in this current round of discounting, but today takes the cake.

UAD have sent me an email…

And because you owned one of the older bundles, we are giving you exclusive upgrade pricing.

Don’t wait. Your upgrade price expires at the end of the year – just go to your cart to find your coupon code!”

woohoo!!
So thinking maybe I have been gifted something, sure as promised there is a $50 voucher for the producer edition, which is clearly marked in my account as OWNED.
yes owned. WTF?

what school of marketing promotes giving a $50 discount on a product the customer already owns?

And if I bought the studio bundle for $249, It seems I would gain just one plug-in, the Avalon ( selling for $99).

You have 2 choices. Ignore bizarre marketing or they'll just tell you to unsubscribe. In just a couple years I've seen:
Discount offers I can bundle cheaper
Bundles that are a better deal the LESS you buy
Notifications I have coupons I do not qualify for
Seen people given plugins, then they were taken back.

I love my UA stuff but their sales and marketing folks, man. Sometimes it's indefensible. Anyway, I'm not paying them so if their superiors feel this is a good job then who am I to say otherwise.

It really is quite overwhelming. I mean, I get it, you are in business. W/o the coin, there isn't much point. But lately it has been strange. It's my fault, once I become a fanboi of a company, this always happens. 🤣

then there was the deal where you buy a satellite octo, and get a stack of plugins free.
I put my money down…and waited and waited, and long before my octo arrived the deal expired.
of course I had the option of getting me money back and not buying the plug-in less octo, but it is frustrating seeing something disappear before your eyes through no fault of your own.
i suppose one irony is now that my rig is hardware based, I can’t run the new native plugins anyway so no money from me this time around.

Support didn't honor that deal when you showed them your receipt with the date of purchase?

Nope,
In the closing days of the offer I explained to UAD support the predicament and asked for some leeway, and was told something along the lines of these deals are locked into the system and it was a requirement that the device was registered before the closing date.
A bit rough, especially as I did the right thing and ordered from my local shop.
Had of I done the dodgy and bought from oversees where stock was plentiful, it would have arrived well before the cutoff date.
The poor sales guy at the shop who had to receive my phone calls did his hardest to procure the item, and i suspect he too was left with a slightly sour taste.

That was not a good month for my relationship with universal audio and the more importantly, the local pro music shop who in reality are the face of all the companies whose hardware products they sell.
First the satellite issue and then shortly after the sphere mic I bought was defective. The capsule housing was not bolted down correctly and introduced some hefty LF noise when it rocked back and forth.
They didn’t mess around, and replaced the mic on the spot.

Sorry about that.
