UAD PERFORMANCE with G5 dual 2 gig only

I'm interested in seeing if there is anyone out there with the SAME setup as I, so that i can see what kinda of performance others are getting out of the UAD card. I am running Mac OS 10.3.4 and the other important details of my system you can see below. I am using the fxpansion version of the vst to rtas adapter V1.06 with Pro Tools LE 6.4cs6.

Its seems my system is running out of power with less than 10 or 15 UAD plug ins pulled up in the session. I am using only 1 UAD card. I think I should be getting better performance. I have been in touch with UA support and its fair to say I have ruled out most all basic troubleshooting.

What PCI slot have u inserted the card in? Mine is in slot 4 which I believe is a separate PCI bus on the G5 and is supposed to be the best choice for the UAD. Also I have 2 gigs of non apple ram. Is all of your ram apple ram of 3rd party?

I would welcome a screenshot of your mix window showing all the plug ins.

Is the performace of the UAD in native (AU or VST) formats BETTER than when used with the Fxpansion adaptor in Pro Tools? UA claims that performace is the same.

I have a similar Mac setup, dual 2ghz and 2GB RAM, Digital Performer, NI Komplete, BFD, 1 UAD and 1 Powercore. I haven't tried maxing (sp?) the system yet since I'm in the recording phase on my current project, but 10 or so plug-ins sounds like a lot of plug-ins to me! It also depends which ones you're using. If you're using a lot of 1176 plugs it's going to take more juice than say part of a CS-1.

If you want me to load up a particular chain of plugs, just let me know, and I'll tell you when I run out of card room.

sounds good

yeah.. that sounds really cool... I for a while was only tracking... now getting to point of finishing a few things up (i.e mixing), yeah I guess 10 UAD plugs is not enough for me (does not seem like alot to me)... and then they want u to buy another card?... if you can try it and lemme know that sounds cool... I really want the ideal of the G5 cranking out everything I need. I'm kinda anti digidesign because of the way they market their gear. I am happy to see things like the UAD totally give TDM a run for the money. Which it still does even if u have to buy 4 UAD cards.

I am now thinking another UAD card or powercore FW... thoughts? what slot is your UAD in? Maybe i can actually tell u exaclty what plugs i am using... if we really wanna geek out... you could try to run the same plug in setup(same number of tracks..ect) catch you all a little later

cheers!
