Does anyone have experience using both? How do they compare?

I think I've just clicked with the Oxford / Cambridge connection ;) I am soooo sloooooooow.

They're native now, so I might be interested.

I don't think Oxford and Cambridge can be directly linked other than the fcat, they are both Universities in the UK. The concepts are similar but they impart a different sound. It may be hearsay though.

Just my 1.5 cents

I've no idea about the sound, but they do look remarkably similar ;)

I would use the Oxford EQ over cambridge any day! The Oxford EQ is also an excellent mix-bus EQ! And, if you use ribbon mics, their is no better EQ for ribbons than the Oxford EQ!

The Oxford Dynamics is great. But, it's not a classic, or a colourful compressor. But if you need to shape the dynamics (including gate, expander, and limiter) in a very specific way, every option you could ever want is there! It sounds great! And it's easy to use! PERFECT for close mic'ed drums!

The Sony Transient plugin is simply the best of it's kind. I just wish it was multi-band.

The Inflator is excellent... but, you have to be sure not to slap it on every mix, because not every mix has holes that need to be filled in... a \"wall of sound\" it makes, but if you aren't carefull you can end up with a wall of \"stuff\" instead of cleanly being able to hear each instrument.

another 3 thumbs up for the Oxford Dynamics.. that's my go-to compressor... i use it on most tracks as a channel compressor.. because, as dan said above, it's not colorful.. it's pretty clean and transparent.... very easy to use, great GUI, so you know what's going on.

it also has a WARMTH knob.. if you want to add a bit of color in.

have not used the gate or expander on it...

Why multi-band? Are you using it over individual channels or the entire drum bus?

Sometimes it can be very helpful to bring out (or attenuate) transients in certain frequency bands. I don't have the Sony, but often use the Waves TransXmulti.

TransX and Voxengo Transmodder (even better!) get a LOT of use here over the entire drum bus :) But then I use a lot of breakbeats, rather than multitrack recorded drums.

Transmodder in particular is extremely powerful, very different sounds between the two as well :)

I only need a multi-band version when I am attempting to master someone elses lifeless mix.

I never use transient plugins in my own mixes.

i just receive my ilok key, try to download the licence demo, and can't have the EQ's (i contact sonny oxford support),

i'm very happy to buy it 50€ for a no functionnal system

if it do the same when you pay the licence, it will be great

when i was a studient i had no problem with warez,

today, i have the money to be a regular customer and have many issues with licence...

share a live4 licence number with an unknown people (so great when you want to update)

buy an ilok and have licence transferring issue,

it's so funny to be a regular customer,

complex manipulation to authorize licence that don't work obviously,

so great

:?

just want to say it
