Does that include the old legacy versions? Or are you only talking about owning the SSL MKII versions?

no, MKII only.

I just tried switching between UAD-2 and UADx versions in LUNA and so far I can confirm that it works fine (as expected).

However, if you have assigned a sidechain input to the UADx plugin, it will switch to the UAD-2 without prompting a warning or error message that there is no sidechain available. You have to keep that in mind yourselves.
The sidechain assigment is retained, so it will still be there if switch back to UADx.

I disagree, we all paid WAY more for the SHARC versions in the first place. SSL released their official VST (E&G) with sidechaining for $49 and give it away with their software bundles. The UA version was severely outdated compared to every other SSL release.

In fairness, just because it has the SSL name on it, doesn't mean it is more accurate than others. While I haven't a/b'd them, nor do I have an original console to compare them to, I would trust the people who've been modeling hardware far more than the people who simply "own the name" and got into the game much later.

Not sure why because the SSL essentials are model after the 9000K but they have released a 4KE and a 4KB. I personally prefer all three of the SSL brand channel strips over the UAD/Native SSL and I do have the UAD Channel Strip/Comp Bundle as well. Between the three of the SSL brand channel strips I have all bases covered. It's just my personal preference and experience with them all. At the end of the mix day I find I like the sound of the SSL brand better and they are much easier and quicker to dial in what you want.

Yay! My most requested UADx port is finally here. I use the 4K strip all the time. Using it on a lot of channels easily eats up my DSP power. So a native version is a real game changer. And with added SC on both plugins I can't complain about the 9 bucks. Thanks UA.

I didn’t want to complain. UAD
Has changed the way I record, i love Luna, apollo, all my plugins and my octo.

But i do not understand the move from DSP.
It’s starting to feel like waves payment model.
Even the plug ins look wavesy in design.

Way am I paying for the same product twice.
I really hope it’s not how it feels and DSP is being phased out.

The new guitar pedal plug ins aren’t unison for example, that is mental.
That is the best thing about your products,
Or used to be.
I really hope we see some new DSP products soon.

The UAD 4K E is such a great option, already mapped to SSL controllers.
