UAD VST instruments and native UADx are VST 3 and both Intel and Apple Silicon.

As I said before, Cubase among others, when running natively do not support VST2 in native mode and the UAD2 plugins that run off Apollo DSP, although Apple Silicon native are not available in those applications.

The new PolyMax IS provided in VST3 format. All the UADx instruments ARE already provided in VST3 format. In addition, ALL UADx plugins are offered in VST3 format also.

You mean Steinberg products?

Yes - there are a lot of discussions about this decision.

UADx and VST instruments made by UA are all VST 3.

Cool! Glad to have you, Patrick!

Since I'm a little less nitty gritty with synths, can you help me understand how this relates to, say, an Oberheim Poly, which, to me, seems to have inspired it a bit?

Hi Patrick,
Congrats on this release of your design. My understanding is that the Poly is influenced by certain analog synths of the past. Is there a specific set of synths from which it draws its sound creation architecture, or is it simply a 'inspired by' concept?

So for 199 the synth is a little underwhelming on features. Really should be 99 even not on sale. Also using the name ___Max is weird because it's not a "maximized" synth at all. It sounds pretty good, but it's definitely not at Synapse, Softube or U-He levels of sound. Pretty weird pricing, but I get that it's priced for the sales.

UAD really shines with pushing the boundaries of audio quality, and I just don't see UAD pushing synths to the next level right now. Don't get me wrong, I love everything UAD so take this as light criticism.

As a layman, the first thing that came to mind when I heard the YouTube clip was Jupiter 8, but then the interface/architecture seems a bit more simplified. Would have been great to have an easy layering function to combine two patches.

Thanks for the tip, phoier. That got it working.

The engine sounds very similar to the Opal to my ears. Maybe a slightly softer filter and the envelope curves are a little different. Cross mod/FM/Sync also have a different character.

The panel allows much faster access to some things like LFO shapes and modulation that on Opal are buried in menus and require quite a few more clicks.

The voice panning is also very nice (a feature request I made for Opal in fact).

I agree with phoier, it sounds very nice and is fun to use. I also agree with kennyg75 that it feels a little bit like a "beginner" synth. I keep expecting there to be an advanced panel that opens up with options to tweak and adjust more parameters.

But there's something to be said for quick and simple good sounds.
