UADx users: does anyone like ilok cloud?

I’ve been wondering too if it is cheaper for companies to offer iLok Cloud vs machine authorization. Cannot really think any other reason why to use it (from a companys POV).
Machine auth & dongle are my preferred ways. That said, I usually am quite happy with cloud too. Luckily there’s reliable internet connection available where I live.

iLok Cloud has a lag even on a fast machine-much prefer machine authorization. I use a Macbook, so I need my ports open and don't like dongles. Machine Authorization hasn't given me problems though.
I highly prefer physical iLok to any other copy protection. Portable. Reliable.
Safer how? Safer from piracy? Ilok cloud plugins get cracked just like everything else. And even if that weren't the case, physical ilok is an option too, so it's not like there's no other avenue for them to try to beat the protection.
I have noticed this too. My UADx plugins take significantly longer to load. The plugins' UIs "fade" in over the course of a couple seconds when I load an instance in my DAW whereas my DSP plugins just pop right into existence in a fraction of a second. I'd be curious to know if the hardware ilok versions have this behavior or if the fade-in is meant to disguise the wait while it communicates with ilok's server.

I just voted for the cloud. But I'm relatively new. I'm coming in during the cloud era. No interest in the dongle. And cloud made it easier to move to a new Mac. Maybe Japan's internet is fast enough, or maybe I have nothing to compare it to... but it's fast enough loading that I don't know what you guys are talking about.

iLok Cloud is a user driven method. IOW, they asked for it. It's more expensive for us. Machine is risky for obvious reasons (machine dies, so does auth).
USB is the sweet spot IMO.

I had a computer full of machine auths die. It was sent to a repair company through insurance, and they wiped it without telling me.
I actually emailed Soundtoys asking if they could retrieve the licences so I could use them on a new laptop. Soon after I got an email from services@ilok saying they'd been notified by a software publisher that I could no longer access activations on my computer. Ultimately every machine auth was reissued by every company. Incredibly simple for me, it was all sorted out with no stress at all.
