This is a blind-test using three different ways of mix summing, matching all levels down to a tenth of a db, as close as I could get analog. I'm sad to say that I didn't have the cables at hand to use all the 16 inputs available on the summing box so both analog sums are made using 8 channels or 4 stereo groups of the original mix.
The alternatives are...
* Vintage Design SU-1
This is a swedish made summing box designed to be Neve-esque in it's character. They also make great sounding \"covers\" on Neve gear like 1073, 1081 and 2254.
* Otari SR54
Console from the early nineties.
* Nuendo
Internal bounce but going one generation through the converters used (Soundscape-Apogee) in the other tests just to take the sound of conversion out of the equation.
