Unison+ Plug-ins Compatibility Issue on Used X4

Hello- New to the tech and wanted to make sure I didn't get a bum unit.

When I load one of the Unison compatible plugins, for example the Neve 1073, and then add other plug ins as inserts, for example Ocean Way Studios or Hitsville Reverb Chambers I get an awful squealing distortion with sound input across all inputs and sources. Almost like a DRM protection.. Happens with one or multiple inserts. Some single inserts it does not such as most ones from the Unison list..

I feel like I'm missing something basic, but I'm not getting any warning of incompatibility issues from console with loading up the slots.

If someone would be kind enough to clue me in about whether this is normal or if my unit is malfunctioning I'd appreciate it.

There is no DRM induced signal, plug-ins are either licensed, full use or in demo period, or not passing signal through.

I would guess your input signal is either too hot, the 1073 cranked full up, or possibly you are feeding line level into XLR. Then again, having inserts post Unison would not really be relevant, so it does not add up.

Thanks for the quick response. It is none of those as the noise is identically reproducible across all different inputs, sources, and Unision/Insert combinations. So inserts post Unison selection at baseline shouldn't create any abnormal distortion? That is was I assumed, but I'm hoping you don't mean that inserts post Unison are not done for good reason. Because that is the level of knowledge I'm working with here :) I've attached a small sound sample. I can get beautiful sound by either using the Unision by itself or an insert mixture, but anytime I try to use both, this happens.

Can you make a video of it happening so we can see the full context?
