Universal Audio Bock 167 self noise

Anyone run into any issues with the 167 self noise 19dB (A weighted) - I may be misinterpreting that spec?
Been mic shopping and I’m between at Ua Bock 167 and something from the Telefunken Alchemy Line which has low self but are PCB I believe.
I was thinking a UAD Block would mix well with the UA Sphere.

My 167 has not left the stand since I got it. It's used on EVERY session. Have never noticed any noise.

Appreciate the quick feedback.
Last question / a retail rep made a comment that the fat switch brings out the 47 vibe- is that valid?
Happy to help.

If they experienced that for themselves and have experience with a 47, who am I to say it's not valid? :)

Fact is, this is all so subjective and everyone will have their own unique take on things, especially with mics.

I can tell you that David's mics are some of the best, most revered mics in the world and have been for a few decades.

True that. It if was a secret 47 switch tho…. It seems like (with the sale ending soon) the best choice - Leaning on the 167 with a Chandler Limited TG in the back of my mind.

Congrats!! Be sure to let us know how you like it!
I'll post an update here or make a new thread possibly. Will the serial number be able to determine if the 167 was made during Bock time with UA? Are these still being produced? There's not much press or social media pushes.

David doesn't build the mics. It's his designs and he oversaw everything for the more than 2 years he was with us. So you can rest assured they're all exactly has he wanted/intended.

yes, these are built in our shop in Santa Cruz CA everyday.

Thank you for the info. This should be last question taken from a U99 review “Voltage can only be changed by moving wires inside the power supply.”

How does this factor into the 167?

it doesn't.

One of the HUGE benefits of us buying Bock (other than saving the company entirely), was making it so these mics could be purchased worldwide. Prior to us taking over, there were countless countries where you couldn't even buy these mics because of materials issues and legalities. We fixed that as well as things like getting a voltage switch on the outside of the PS.

Drew- is there a case available for 167 like the 251 case? Should I contact support?
Right now I don't think so. But I do know that we'd like to get ALL mic accessories available direct at some point.

But let me see what I can find out.
