dear UAD, dear forum members,

I've been waiting and waiting for UA or TC to support these. Nothing happens, and worse: nobody gives a clear answer why.

I can think of a few reasons why this need is so neglected:

1) UA considers the customers decidedly NOT interested in mixing in 5.1
hence, the invested effort doesn't pay off, or:

2) it is not technically possible to implement this on UAD-1 as is

no matter, quite a few of us (and the users over at the Nuendo forum) are involved in film post production in some way or the other. The need for good mc plugs such as UA's is obvious.
What's more, the market for consumer surround is booming all around us; as Neil Wilkes states in another post, surround is NOT going to die.

Actually, the first card manufacturer to come up with mc support gains this growing market; what are they waiting for !?

Therefore, I ask you, the customers, to indulge in this attempt to have
UA hear us. Vote here please !

cheers
Halfdan

Naturally I am voting for this in a big way.
I don't even want a powercore, but if TC can give me multichannel before UA do, then I will definitely be getting at least one PoCo the day the plugs are released.

Multichannel comprises around 90% of all my work these days - and I hhave not so far done more than 2 movies - it's all music.
Why UA have not gone down this road - at the very least as an option - is quite beyond me.
Steinberg have done it.
Waves have done it
Voxengo have done it - in a limited way so far.
Starplugs have done it
There is even a shareware package (thanks, TonyB)

What I really, really NEED here are MC versions of the LA2A, 1176, Cambridge, EX-1, Fairchild etc.
It is going to guarantee I buy another 2 cards immediately.

\"Kind Of Loud\" released a surround (multi-channel) version of RealVerb for ProTools before UA bought KOL. And considering how INCREDIBLY usefull it would be to morph from one room sound to another as the scene changes, this would be the ULTIMATE verb for film/video-post work!!!

However... might as well make it better. Add all of the additional features of DreamVerb, including the smoother decay and smother early reflections... plus presets that utilize the Plate 140 technology, and add modulation functions (like the hidden plate 140 modulation features).

And finally... to make it the ULTIMATE FILM/VIDEO POST REVERB, it should have the ability to morph between more than two verbs... preferably at least 4... 6 or 8 would be the ultimate (then it could be the main verb used throughout an entire film!)

Now we're talking!
For Surround Reverbs I currently use the Wizoo W5, and very nice it is too.
Other alternatives are Voxengo's PristineSpace, TC SurroundVerb (awful) and Steinberg's OctoVerb.
I can also include my vote for a UAD version of RealVerb Surround - how hard could it be to do this, given that the code already exists?

There's already the Sony Oxford Dynamics Surround for Powercore (included with the stereo version).

A 5.1 capable Dreamverb would surely kick ass! Dan is definately onto something with that ultimate film/post verb idea.
