I was thinking before I buy another used QUAD DSP Satelite for not much more I could get a used Quad silverface and use it for more IO

I was looking at getting an Audient EVO SP8 but I read it’s not ideal for hardware inserts?

My plan…

ADAT OUT from my Quantum to ADAT IN on Apollo 8

ADAT Out from Apollo 8 to ADAT IN on my Quantum

Is this possible doable workable…?

I get 8 more IO at 48 kHz and more DSP when mixing…

Yes, this is definitely possible. I used a Silverface as an ADAT expander for years with my PT systems. You'll still need it connected to the computer to control it, but Console can just be open as needed to do so. FW doesn't work on the later macOS versions, but if you're using Windows you're okay with FW and okay on Mac if it has a TB card.

Great, thanks for the info.

Can I use the 4 mic preamps and send these over ADAT?

Absolutely.
Brilliant. (y)

Am I right in saying you can’t use mic inputs 1-4 and line inputs 1-4 at the same time?

But they both can be connected and have leads plugged in them?

I‘m just planning my IO map on paper first…

Correct. Both can be connected, but whatever you've selected (line or mic) will be the ones you get. You can, of course, use line ins 5-8 along with mics 1-4.

Would I notice a difference in converter from the Quantum?
I'd say it's a pretty good improvement over the Quantum. That's both object and subjective.
