Using "command" in midi not allowing to move notes w/o snapping to the grid?

I'm watching the original vids on midi editing and the vid clearly states that cmd will move the note w/o snapping to the grid. But that is not working here. Anything I should know? Bug? Anyone else having this?

Yes, all I get is the "up/down" arrow and the note/s will only snap to grid. Of course, you can just disable snap, but it's supposed to work.

Les will love this, I RTFM :ROFLMAO:

From it:

TO CHANGE THE VELOCITY OF A MIDI NOTE, DO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • Press Command and hover over a note. The MIDI Velocity Editing Tool appears. Command+Click on the note and drag up or down to increase or decrease the note velocity. The relative transparency of the note indicates the velocity. Notes become less opaque and more transparent as velocity decreases, and more opaque and less transparent as velocity increases.
So they've changed it. Here is the original vid, go to 6 minutes and you'll see.

I didn't know about the command-drag velocity up/down. It works here, and can be used on a selection of notes, too. Cool!

And holy smokes: Shift +/- changes grid size!?!?

I should probably WTFV. (watch videos)

I'd think if they changed it, it would be some other key. I guess they just decided that was more important so the "snap" commands replace that. Still works with audio and clips though.

Not sure what you mean.

I can move notes left and right, disabling snap using cmd-drag left and right.

Or I can increase/decrease not velocity of a note using cmd-drag up and down.

What's changed but still works with audio and clips?

Holding down cmd and dragging them around w/o snap.

Ok, it's a bug if it works for you and not me. Mine won't do it, the arrow is just up and down when you press cmd over a note.

Restart everything: computer, interface, Luna.

Thanks, but that didn't do it, not constantly. It worked one time :ROFLMAO: I wonder if it's something with my mouse or keyboard and the fact that cmd also does the velocity?

I tried to take a screen shot but the mouse cursor didn't show up. I'll hit up support and see what they have to say later. It's a FWP for sure, I mean, just disable snap and there you go.

If I remember correctly, you should first select the note(s), THAN press and hold cmd, now you can move the note off grid using the mouse
I think it’s kind of a “bug” or odd/unwanted feature but it works

I figured it out. Select the note FIRST, then hit the cmd key. Sheesh, I should have figured it out sooner. I was hitting cmd first. I'll get it all eventually, I promise 😞

Don’t be too hard on yourself, my man. It’s a learning curve process, that’s all :)

ps: you would have laughed at me trying to navigate MIDI recording in Live 11 last weekend. The solution I was looking for was so simple.😂

I space out on stuff like that constantly.
One of my used ‘moves’ is to select a bar or two pre-roll before punch in. Cursor in time line, select how far back, hit option. I mean this something I do almost everyday. For whatever reason, two days ago, for the life of me I couldn’t remember how to do it.

Momma said there would be days like these

Haha, I know the feeling. This is too new for me, in Live it's almost second nature. (except some of the new stuff in 12)
