Using LA-2 as a limiter?

So reading the manual for the Teletronix LA-2A Leveler Collection there's this little tidbit on the Compress/Limit section:

"Note: Like the original hardware, this control is unavailable on the Teletronix LA-2 plug-in. The plug-in is "hardwired" in Limit mode."

Would it be crazy to use the original LA-2 at the end of my 2 bus chain as a limiter?
(Previously used Logic stock, then Korneff El Juan Limiter.)

Any advice, any thoughts on this? Would love to hear your input!

Depends on what you're looking for. Nothing is crazy in music if it sounds right.

Howerver, are you expecting to get a modern digital limited sound from an emulation of one of the oldest compressors?

Quite the contrary: I'm looking for that old sound, that's why I ditched the very transparent stock Logic limiter in the first place!

Limiter in this context does not mean peak limiter or brick wall limiter.

Old school analog limiting was simply compression at higher ratios, typically 10:1 or greater.

So you'd have to do the peak/brick wall limiting "manually" as-it-were, by ear?
