Verve Analog Machines

This might be a UAD plugin I'd consider buying in the future, if/when it ever sees the light of day. I've been wanting UA to model some new tape machines. The Studer and ATR are like 10 years old. Since they're using the word "machines", it sounds like it would contain more than one type of machine. An MM-1200, or 3M, or MCI would be cool. But will it be native only? I'd want it to also be DSP, but I suspect it might be native only.

Also, the Capitol Compressor product page makes mention of it being used for the Verve catalog, among others like Capitol and Blue note. Wonder if there's any connection there? It wouldn't be a huge surprise to hear that UA modelled various tape machines found at Capitol. I mean, they were already at Capitol to do the chambers and Compressor.

There's also three new pedal models as well. Knuckles, Enigmatic, and Mental.

I'm all in, but Verve? That's no brand right, just a random name?

An AMPEX 350/351 style emulation would be great though.

Doesn't matter, I don't need branded stuff, just plugins that kick ass. So a British 81/N81/Cambridge 81 would also do the trick instead of a Neve named mkII.

Sounds like it might be a suite of machines, from more than one manufacturer. It remains to be seen if there would be any name specific branding going on. With a name like Verve, and the implication that it's more than one kind of machine, I'd guess that this would be an unlicensed kind of product. Which is fine with me. But this all speculation.

In any case, it's cool to see that UA is actually working on some kind of new tape plugin(s). It's been a while.

Nice. I’m all for UA starting to drop brand names licensing so they can start pushing their designs forward.

I‘d buy a Mental pedal just for its name.
What happened to Raymond?

It shows as abandoned. I think it was superceded by Waterfall and Electra 88.

This is total shot in the dark, but I'm guessing that these new pedals are dirt/distortion/fuzz type pedals. Mental = metal type distortion, Knuckles = fuzz, Enigmatic= ??

Didn't have to buy it?
Maybe they're free LUNA extensions? I just hope that doesn't mean they're going to be subscription only.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if that comment was meant to indicate that you didn't have to buy it, or if it was meant to indicate that you didn't have to wait.

Unless it's going to be released tomorrow, it's gonna be a wait of some kind. Guess we'll see.

Or it is the next free4all promo plugin like that LA-2A plugin they released some months ago? Maybe it is some Studer+Ampex emulation but with limited functionality or adjustability compared to their existing UAD-2 counterparts.

Drew reported that one of the top requests from Sound City users was an individual "Dolby A trick" emulation. Maybe Verve is the Sound City Dolby A section, made free to all users to entice them to buy Sound City...?

It's plural, so let's see...

Hope it's coming this month though.

But a LUNA update would also be most welcomed.

This article was posted on Monday. Sounds like the Verve is maybe getting released tomorrow.

Considering that it's been a decade now since UA released any tape plugins, this one has me pretty curious.

Edit:

I just realized that you can see images of the actual plugin in that screen shot I posted. It looks to have multiple machine types. There seems to be at least two knobs. One says "Warble" and I can't quite make out what the other knob says. "Sizzle", perhaps?
