I was lucky enough to see a demo of the Waves Vintage, API and UAD plugs... Got a chance to drive them all myself, not just watching someone.

The results were pretty cool. The API EQs seem to keep all the natural character, very transparent and musical. Kind of reminds me of the Precision plugs.

The Vintage plug suite has a little more shimmer than the UA Neve plugs and also seemed louder when you just drop them in.

But all in all they are top notch and not better or worse than the UA plugs.
Just different. So if your a Waves guy and you got the SSL,API and the Vintage plugs you're pretty much set. I don't think you'd need any UAD plugs if you had all 3 and the Diamond bundle.

The only plug that could not be matched was the 33609 and the Waves V-Comp. The 33609 is way way versatile in comparison and sounded a little dark. Which equals better to me... kind of. The Waves had more shimmer. I though the V-Comp worked better than the 33609 on a drum bus.

But those new Waves plugs sound pretty f'n cool I just don;t know if I could come up with the cash to buy them..... Man they are pricey! But it was cool to finally see them all head to head.
