Weird behavior on reboot

I have 2 x16s and 2 x8ps. Sometimes when my apollos startup it designates for Atmos the x8p for monitor outs even though I have configured the x16 for monitor outs. It always sets up the x16 for all the other Dolby channels.

So when L/R aren't working the usual fix is to pull up console and change L/R to the x16 I'm using for the other channels.

Is there a reason this sometimes happens on startup even though the config is saved to use the x16 for monitor outs?

Its probably user error but I'm not sure how to ensure it always the same on startup.

maybe the order that the apollos are plugged in is somehow making the computer choose the order at which the driver assigns each unit?
is the order of the units changing in the ua console/ua meter?

I think the order is changing I'll have to investigate further. Without buying optical cables it will be hard to change the order in my multi unit setup.
