Hello,
UPDATE: THIS DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A LUNA ONLY ISSUE. I WAS ABLE TO RECREATE IT IN LOGIC AFTER ANOTHER ATTEMPT. I MAY HAVE SOME WEIRD PHASE CANCELLATION THAT I NEED TO TAKE A LOOK AT. SORRY OFR THE CONFUSION.
I'm a Luna noob and I wanted to post about an issue that I am experiencing to see if there is a workaround or if I am just missing some setting...
I recorded some acoustic guitar tracks: Mono cardioid pointing towards the guitar; figure 8 turned 90 degrees from the mono mic. This was for mid/side recording. Doubled the figure 8 track, flipped the polarity and panned hard L/R and everything sounded good. I used these tracks in Digital Performer and Logic and it worked out well.
I imported these tracks into Luna to try out mixing in the UA ecosystem and I am seeing a weird issue:
When I send the 3 tracks to a bus (no plugins), if I pan the side tracks in the bus and check via a meter, they are balanced perfectly (they are the same track -> one side is just a copy of the other) and if the pan is centered, they null completely.
When I send the mid (mono) mic to the same bus (soloed on its own) its fine and balanced.
When I start bringing up the side mics to combine them, there is a weird offset (like 6-9db) where the mix is suddenly off balance.
I have tried to eliminate everything in the chain (plugins, all of the UAD tape/eq/dyn/summing add-ins) to where it's literally just 3 tracks, a polarity flip and a bus and this still happens. I even started a new project from scratch to verify this and it did the same thing.
Is there something that I am missing? Again, this goes off without any issues in Logic and DP.
Thanks,
B.
