What do use youtube for, and what are your experiences?

It's invaluable to me personally. I do some fluffy stuff (I like cat vids, sue me! ) but mostly I use it for educational purposes. For example, since I'm trying out Luna again, there is a ton of really useful information (I've watched those before, but this time I'm taking it more seriously)

But then again, there is allot of really bad junk. For example, guitar or bass "instructional" vids. It's a couple of minutes of showing you how much better they are than you and then a bunch of "blah blah blah" that has NOTHING to do with what they started out with. Click bait for the most part. Plus, youtube has it's own agenda and in my "recommendations" they spam me with current events (who cares), politics, and stuff that has NOTHING to do with what I've ever searched for (like all of sudden, a bunch of machine workers with tractors and whatnot).

I can't like w/o it since using it for years, but was wondering what others think about it.

Oh, and I forgot, for me "do not recommend" doesn't usually work. I'll get the same channel the next time I go to the channel, really really hate that! Very spammy.

Chris Harbin, party of one, Chris, your table is ready....

So another thing I forgot was how dumb youboob is about your searches. Of course, if you search for Luna, you MUST want to hear about Cubase, Pro Tools, and Reaper. And if you click on a viddy for a music band, you MUST want EVERYTHING from that band! (and everything related)

Here's one that is completely off the hook bad....."procedural process for proper surgery" Remember, this is in my "recommendations" ;)

Hmmmmm, thought this would get more hits.

Anyways, the algorithms are pretty lame here lately. For one, I looked up "battery 4". Big mistake mostly. Now I'm getting "battery" stuff of all kinds  How to charge, which are the best, what replacements and a BUNCH of Tesla owners complaining (hey, what did you expect, that "green" car uses batteries....you expect them to last forever??? )

And we're back to tons of gun stuff for some odd reason. I hate guns, never once searched for anything related. Way to go youboob!

I guess it's "use at your own risk" anyways.....

Hey @chrisharbin , I dig this question.

Lately I like using YouTube for new product demo videos. I hope to be able to view several videos out, because some are obviously better quality.

My fuzz pedal rabbit hole has been helped (harmed?) by having more audible information before purchasing. The trick for me here is finding players who know how to play a fuzz when they demo… let it sustain, let it gate out & let it feedback if it will and your able to tame the beast. & ffs don’t do shred licks with none of the above for the duration - that’s NOT how you fuzz.

&,..
Once I have a few of these new songs done, with AI and my Mac I’m sure I’ll be making videos for them there also because - fun and also promotional.

Cheers sir!

Awesome!. If you get them done (If I'm understanding you) then I'd like to see.

So, I think I mentioned "do not recommend channel" is.....dicey. Todays example: White sea (aka "snake oil" dude) I think that is why I'm kinda sick to my stomach this morning  I've tried to ditch all of that from back in the day. Fluff and all that. But they inevitably find their way back. I guess I'm leaving bread crumbs from all the surfing I do? Oh well....

It has replaced the late lamented LYNDA.com for me on stuff I need to learn, whether how to fix my treadmill, or make mosquito traps, research car reviews (bought first new car in 21 years!). I also got hooked on a solo traveler train trip channel. Some stuff turns my stomach like the channel where the tech host is a puppet ? Or one guy who uses a behringer Wing to demo all the best sampled grand pianos. I subscribe to about 30 really useful channels in tech and music stuff (e.g., why logic pro rules, music tech help guy, etc.). I do watch some cat videos too.

Oh yeah, I think it's maybe an Ableton vid class that has that puppet, ick.

Cat vids are awesome! Erik is my fav (such a sweet little stinker! )

So other than cat vids, I watch YTPC (youtube pipe community, yep, I'm a geezer) some, the ones you mention (Luna/Ableton mostly here though) planes taking off/landing (especially turboprops) and some music "lesson" stuff (which as mentioned, can be a real bore. Yak yak yak it's like "where's the beef?" )

And as you mentioned, you can find virtually anything for fix it's around the house, car, etc.

That's more than 30 that I can tell. Sweetwater and UA we have in common, but WSA? Really? He's my most hated person on the nett in many ways.....everything is snake oil! :ROFLMAO: NBC news? ehhhhhhh. I'm guessing you bought a Lexus as your new toy car/suv/etc? Also, special note to Rick Beato, I like him and think I could have a beer with him, but can't watch all the vids man.

Yeah. Some stuff I subscribed to over past few years as I'm on treadmill every day, and can go to 'subscriptions' to scroll through when I have nothing suggested at 'home.' NBC news I have just for summary if "bomb dropped on ..." can see a 1 minute wtf vs having to watch wall of nonsense. Yeah, new Lexus RX500h :) Couple things on the list I am noticing I don't care for anymore, and same with Rick .. like him, but maybe watch one out of 10 of his things anymore. Some of that stuff is for WordPress dev, some are personal friends, and some like PLugin Alliance at this point, why?! :) Was kind of interesting to do this export and go, hmmm... time to trim. Been enjoying the Solo Solo Travel train trips videos a lot lately. Also sick of Seth Myers. Anyway... back to work! :)

I just realized something, with all the whining I'm doing, I'm still TOTALLY addicted! I don't have a job (I'm lucky about that) other than taking care of my 92 y/o mother. So I spend a ton of time in between music stuff and youboob. I feel a craving to do it even though "new and fresh" doesn't happen as much as I'd like. It's like I'll be in the middle of learning Luna, or working on a song with it and "ooo, I've gotta cruise youtube!".

I'm a weird guy, it's not lost on me.

Click on a Mac vid, and get the whole collection! Because you know, if you watch one, you MUST want to watch another 100 or so.

Come on youtube, you just are NOT trying hard enough. I mean, it's only 50% spam this week. Why not 80, or even 100%!

Seriously, all the political garbage, religious stuff, and now horns? So related to my searches! GRRRRR. What is up with the 20-30 horn related stuff every day?

Ok, rant over......for now :ROFLMAO:

So, I'm not going through good times, I went many days without paying attention to youboob. You know what? They didn't f...k it up. UNTIL I started paying attention to it again! Now, we're back to constant spam and nonsense.

I don't get it. Why youboob WHY!?
