• Welcome to the General Discussion forum for UAD users!

Please note that this forum is user-run, although we're thrilled to have so much contribution from Drew, Will, and other UA folks!

Feel free to discuss both UAD and non-UAD related subjects!

    1) Please do not post technical issues here. Please use our UAD Support Forums instead.

    2) Please do not post complaints here. Use the Unrest Forum instead. They have no place in the the General Discussion forum.

Threads posted in the wrong forum will be moved, so if you don't see your thread here anymore, please look in the correct forum.

    Lastly, please be respectful.

What happened to my buddy Erik?

Erik (former Bomfactory boss) helped me get through a bad time in my life. His nasty posts (except for one that I posted as a joke) made for excellent Erik bashing. Bomb Factory is now history, thanks to the hostile takeover by Digidesign. And it was hostile too. Is there a gag order on the most venemous of poisonous posters on the interent? I can't find him anywhere. He used to contaminate this wonderful site with his ridiculous rants for no reason whatsoever. His products didn't even compete with the VST or DX format, yet still he continued to berate everyone here (at the older site actually). Erik, come out, come out wherever you are...........

I remember that well. This place was an unmitigated hell-hole during those days, and it wasn't because of someone from a competing company posting here. It was because of some UA fanboys running amuck and flaming everyone who dared to say anything that wasn't in complete support of UA products, pricing or policy.

I myself was called an 'Erik' dual within my first few posts because I had some issues with the price of new plug-ins. I actually regretted the purchase of my UAD-1 for the first 6 months due to the attitudes of some here.

And by the way:

Bomb Factory co-founder and president Erik Gavriluk commented, \"My partner, Dave Amels, and I are proud of the great digital audio processing products we've created for the Pro Tools community, and we're especially pleased that these products will now be even more closely linked with the world's pre-eminent provider of digital audio equipment to audio engineers everywhere, from high-end professionals to home studio buffs.\"
Out of respect for new purchasers/posters, let it go.

The rumor is that Erik caught Digidesign red-handed encouraging dealers to include cracked BF plugs with new PT systems (he infamously slagged them on their OWN FORUM for this and was banned), and Digidesign bought him out at a VERY good price in order to avoid a lawsuit and the attendant bad publicity.

The article says: \"Terms of the deal were not disclosed.\" Yep.

He's a very knowledgable guy when it comes to analog gear, despite his extremely childish personality. I always found him entertaining and I miss his presence on the MARSH/REP.
