I think the only one still having it is the US store. Better get on the phone and talk to them to get an update what's going

You've got to check around the web too and see if any other retailers have older Macs left.

Personally i'd think it best to get one of the Dual 2.0Ghz PCI models used. If you can't wait. Otherwise just hold off on any purchase for a little while and see what happens with regard to the 3rd party hardware makers and PCIe.

Since I remember when I switch to Mac late 2002 and had to sit and wait for the OSX drivers for my UAD-1 for half a year, now that wasn't fun. :(

I'm on the fence with the new quad but I will use what I got until there is an option that will take care of my UAD's and PoCo's, until then I wait... 8)

Replicant. Do you recall how long it took UA to give an eta for their osx drivers? So far they've not acknowledged they are going to make a pcie card (now the only Mac-compatible card). A year and a half wait would be annoying, but not nearly as annoying as having to keep checking this forum every couple of days - and THEN having to wait a year and a half anyway.

My goodwill towards UA ebbs lower by the day because of their silence.

Dix, I believe that UA will deliver

BUT, having waited for the OSX driver and finding myself trying to come up with alternatives was a very frustrating period (in the end it wasn't only UA that wasn't there, Apple had their part in it, so did Steinberg). The lesson I learnt was to not base decision on waporware, which is were these new Quad mac's are at. Since there are no PCIe cards available for the audio market (AFAIK) everyone buying a Quad is basing this on the assumption that there will be PCIe cards (or that there will be enough firewire solutions). Been there, so I'll wait.
The irony is that Apple is running a discount on Logic Pro at the moment if you buy it together with a new Mac. But maybe that's part of the plan
