What UAD think about vst technology?

I ask this, because I met some really protools believer, who told me that nothing compares to the digi hd system, and vst actually sounds very badly.
I know I know, but I would like to hear/read some pro statement from for example an uad guy. (They also told me that asio is a very bad thing too.)
I'm not an expert on this, so jump in, and tell what you know.

Not at all am I an expert in this concern, but I can tell you that neither VST nor ASIO \"sound\". Those are protocols designed for communication between programs (hosts + plugins - VST) or soft- and hardware (ASIO).

For Protools on Mac those interfaces are RTAS/Core audio i think.

What's used on your computer is mostly determined by the software you use and whether it's a mac or pc system. Whenever it works, go forget about it. VST/ASIO \"sound bad\" is complete rubbish. Those standarts are just interfacing different devices (and they're doing a good job here :D )

Why should VST should sound bad?Because it's written in C? Does a protocol sound bad? ASIO is a driver. It just transports bits from one memory place to another. No bits are changed. No way to induce bad sound here either.
Maybe they were speaking of speed/delay, which could introduce artefacts into the stream (like clicks), which sound bad.

No, they were talking about that asio is bad, and vst is sounds bad, indeed everything in vst sounds bad, because it's a bad standard. That's why I ask some expert here. So really any expert from UA?

Well ASIO and RTAS are both low-latency protocols and as duely stated has nothing to do with sound. There are a couple of things in life that need assessment, people who still believe in a white Christmas and those who think that everything outwith Protools sounds bad (I mean what did we do before Protools..shudders).

These people are either misguided or had their minds corrupted at technical college. After all it's the sound device, monitors, room setup and your ears that make the difference.

I know a guy who used to preach to people about Sonar and DXi over VST all the time. Guess what DXi is dwindling in support now and VST is here to stay. Now isn't it the case, you get what you pay for in life and this nearly always represents the value and (wo)manhours put into anything.

Just do an A/B test yourself and you'll see. Or \"hear\".

I myself have A/B tested a few things. A wave file sounds the same while played by the same host with ASIO or WDM driver, for example.
