Where Should a New UAD User Buy Plugins? Official Website vs. Other Platforms

Hello everyone,

As a newcomer to the world of UAD, I'm pondering a crucial question: where should I purchase UAD plugins to get the best value for my money? I've noticed that on some other major plugin marketplaces, there are enticing offers like additional plugins or rewards when purchasing UAD plugins. However, when I explore the Universal Audio official website, I don't seem to find similar offers.

So, I'm turning to the community for advice. Do you think it's more advantageous for a new UAD user like me to buy plugins from other platforms instead of directly from the official website? For those who have experience purchasing UAD plugins from official websites, what additional perks or rewards did you receive, if any?

Buy where the deal is best. With buying from UA you'll get the simplest and quickest result, though.

I would recommend taking your time and watching how UAD operates their sales, coupons and promotions. UAD is a marketing oriented company and you'll find some great deals if you take your time and learn how UAD operates. For now enjoy the plugins that came with your hardware as they're pretty awesome and you can go a long way with them and learning how to use them. Just remember that there's really no rush to buy everything at once and enjoy the plugins you have until you learn what else you want or need.

BTW English IS my first language and I'm not as well spoken in English as your post.

For those who have experience purchasing UAD plugins from official websites, what additional perks or rewards did you receive, if any?

In the past there was a reward/thank you coupon after most purchases, so there was often an incentive to buy direct from the site, and split orders to play the system so to speak. But late last year the policy changed, so it is no longer clear (to me) when and if they occur so regularly now.

if you are VAT registered, located in the EU or UK, you are almost certainly better off buying from a 3rd party that will properly offset it. If not, it depends on what seems to make the most sense on a case by case basis.

Yesterday, I couldn't resist and ended up purchasing the Manley® Variable Mu Limiter Compressor plugin from the official website for $49. Shortly after, I received an email from the official team informing me that I've been awarded a $25 coupon expiring at the end of April! This revelate that for multiple purchases, opting for the official website might indeed offer the best deals! Thank you all for your valuable advice!

Now, I'm off to ponder how to choose the plugins for my custom 2 bundle! haha

I almost always bought from Uad, maybe except once or twice because i really wanted a new plugin (hitsville eq-instant love-full price) and the other place had it a bit cheaper + € conversion + didn’t charged VAT and so that made a big price difference.

A few guidelines I’m trying to follow:
Do I need it ?
Always wait for sales, demo the plugins properly before buying (really use those 14 days!)
Compare with free or cheaper options
Best buy separately, but you already guessed that
Do I really need it ?
And don’t hesitate to ignore a coupon if you don’t have anything to buy

To give you an example of how good I am at this, right now, I have a coupon waiting for me, i don’t really need a new plugin, and I’m going to use this coupon for the custom 2 bundle anyway ! Haha
