Which PCIe slot to use?

Doc Jones

I am going to be picking up a machine soon that has these expansion slots -
(2) PCI-Express X16, (1) PCI-Express X4, (2) PCI-Express X1, (2) PCI

I will be putting a graphics card in one of the x16 slots and an audio card in the old style PCI slots. I have 3 regular PCI uad-1 cards so two of them will have to go. I will purchase two Uad-1e cards. Should they go into the highest available PCIe slots? (in this case one card in the x16 and another in the x4) or does it even matter?

This should not make any difference, regarding the bandwidth of PCIe
