Which plugs do I need?

Hi guys

Need a bit of advice on which plugs to get next (as Ive ordered a 2nd card) I fancy the Neve 1073 or 1081, or the 88RS or the 33609 or maybe all of them! I already have: Fairchild, LA2A, 1176, Precision Limiter and Pultec Pro. Would it be a bit overkill to get all of the Neve stuff?
Most of the music I record is guitar based from indie, rock to extreme metal plus the odd folk session.

Cheers :D

If you get just one, it would have to be either the 88 or the 1073. The 88 is the most useful plugin I own, the 1073 is the downright sexiest.

I absolutely love the 1081 and 33609 too though, and use em all the time...

Only thing is that with two cards the 33609 will hurt you - the full version is vastly superior to the SE as well IMHO. Unless you use a lot of offline processing (as I do, just for the gain stage a lot of the time), or just use it for mastering then it might put you off, even though it sounds SO good. The SE's a very good plugin compressor, but the full version is something else.

I don't find the SE 1073/1081 eq's to be quite so lacking, but that could be me...

In short, just get them all

I'd go 88RS first of the bat. Then i'd eventually go after the rest of the Neves, helios, 1a3a and would'nt stop until i'm forced to from being thrown in rehab. But yea 88rs comes first with me.

I've got to agree with the above and say I'd suggest the 88 and 1073.

I have a three card system and when trying to use the (full version) 33609 I would max out at about 50% EVERYTIME. Over and over. Tried everything UA support suggested, but it was a waste of time. Nothing worked, and they finally started ignoring my detailed reports.

I bought the 1073, 88rs and LA3A with my last credits. The 1081 is also great, but I felt I had bases covered with the 73 and 88.

but as always, try them out yourself. thats what the demos are for.

good luck.

That's a shame for you :|

I am assuming you turned them off and reenable them in size order then :?

I have three cards and can use two 33609's in a mix, with plenty of other plugs. :?

I did some mixes the last days - the first ones where I had the 88rs available right from scratch. It works wonders on many tracks where I fired some of the big bombs before the 88rs-era! Having to choose one, I'd choose this...

If you don't have the Space Echo already, it should be a given.

Hi toffen dasque. Im curious as to what's so special about the space echo? Is it something more than just an echo unit?
