Why Are Luna Files So F'n Huge?

A Studio One file of my song with 60 audio tracks is less than 2 gigs.

A Luna file of the song those same audio tracks is 4.56 gigs after a few days of mixing!

This is ONLY the session file and does not include any audio files, which are stored in a separate place. I think. (I thought wrong, See below.*) Is this Luna saving several days of Undo info? That would be a laugh because the Infinite Undo is utterly useless since there is no Undo History.

I am not timestretching or anything or processing files in any way except to change gain in some places. And I did not record any new audio into Luna -- I never have. I only use imported audio from other DAWs.

Why Mommy? Why does the mean Mr. Luna use up all the drive space? What did we ever do to him?

*Wait -- when I import audio into Luna, is it copying over those audio files from their original place (which was not in the same folder as Luna)? I did a Show Package Contents and saw that Luna has gigs of .wavs in a folder called "audio." They have random garbage names, but I played some and they are the wavs I dragged in. So it looks like it IS copying it over. I guess I thought it was like Adobe Premiere and was just pointing to the original files, not duping them.

Does this mean if I "delete unused audio" in Luna it only deletes these NEW FILES IT MADE ITSELF and not the original audio files that I dragged and dropped onto the timeline? After I drag and drop audio into Luna, Luna no longer points to those original files or affects them at all?

Of course all these sessions are on external SSDs, but even those run out of space eventually.

Thanks, everyone, for confirming this. This will help a lot in file management. I can delete old Luna projects that are no longer relevant.

But after Luna copies over 2 gigs of files, why does that Luna project grow to over 4 gigs after a few days of mixing? I did not add any more audio to it.
I do not see this here.

Can you repro it?

Well, since I've just learned a bunch about how Luna's file system works, I am going to carefully examine the sessions so that I can see for sure that the growing file size is real. I may be doing something else that is already explained which is making larger files. I'll do more research and tinkering before bothering you with it -- just to be sure it's not the usual Operator Error I am sometimes prone to ;)

One question, though: when I save Versions and Bookmarks, is Luna making NEW dupes of audio files to go with those versions/bookmarks or is it merely pointing to existing audio files? In other words, if you make lots of Bookmarks and Versions, will it make the Luna session larger?

No, it's not duping audio.
