Why can't I use my Plugin Alliance Maag EQ4 with my Apollo?

I already own the Maag EQ4 Plugin, so why can't I use it with my Apollo?

I have a bad feeling as to why, but why should I have to buy it again from UAD?

Again, I have a bad feeling as to why :) :) :)

Because it needs a completely different version to run on the DSP chips in the Apollo. And they're sold by two different companies.

It’s pretty simple. One is made to work on your computer CPU and the other is made to work with the Sharc chip on the DSP inside your Apollo. Like a Windows version of Premiere Pro vs the same Premiere Pro made for Apple M-series.

Yeah I've had the Maag EQ by Brainworx on the Apollo DSP platform for years and paid about $25 USD for it some time ago in a sale.

I imagine going forward only the plugins actually developed by UA themselves will get both a DSP and UADx version (where you get the other one free etc).

What's the bad feeling? The fact that you didn't read what was included when you bought it from PA?

It's the $229.00 bad feeling that I'll have to spend to get the UAD version danisalat :)

FWIW, I didn't have an Apollo when I purchased the PA version, and it works fine with LPX.

That's completely unrelated with you owning the PA version or not
1) As I said, I purchased the PA version before I owned an Apollo, and it works fine within LPX on the individual tracks.
2) I already deep down knew the answer to my first “bad feeling”.
3) I already knew deep down the answer to my second “bad feeling”.
4) Having to spend an additional $229.00 to buy the UAD version, TO ME, is the third “bad feeling “ :)

Please note that when I say “bad feeling”, it’s said just in jest danisalat :)

Just as an aside, better than both plugins is the actual MAAG EQ4M. Absolutely divine and the price recently dropped by a THOUSAND dollars. If you like that air band it is famous for, you’ll REALLY love the hardware.

But yea, just use the PA one in your DAW, problem solved.

Ah, Ok i sort of get it.
Sorry, I'm not up with other daws and console because i just use luna, and was a bit slow working out what the problem was.

The only time maag is worth $299....(no, not what it is worth, what it might cost).... is when UAD marketing folk are telling you how much you save by spending any less. Plugin alliance are worse in that regard.

Right now, which is the only time to truly value the RRP of a plugin, the 2 bundle is $149, the 3 bundle$199 .

Maybe next month or at easter they will be two for $99.

Definitely hold off, much better sales are probably coming. 2 for 99 or maybe even better.

Wait a minute, I just read Luna supports AU 3rd party plugins. Cant you download the AU version from the PA installer? You should be able to and then see it in Luna.
