Why doesn't UA add scroll wheel support for UAD plugs?

It's simple enough - being able to use a scroll wheel to move knobs on plugins - nearly all other plug manufacturers support it - why doesn't UA support it?

:?: They do support scroll wheel. At least in my DAW(Cubase SX3).
(except for the concentric pots)

Yep, works fine in SX3 here. One of the things I love about UAD-1 plugins (and native SX plugs of course) is their wheel support. Wish more manufacturers did (like PSP, NI...)

The wheel doesn't work on all the controls of the 1073 and 1081 in SX3

No, as I wrote, scroll wheel doesn't work on the concentric pots. (which the Neve has a few...) but the rest works.

Doesn't work on the Precision EQ either.

Must be DAW-specific. Doesn't work in DP
Yeah, it must be real specific, cause it doesn't work in SONAR 6, ACID Pro 6 or REAPER either.

Precision EQ works here. But maybe you didn't refer to Cubase?

Why???

I don't know.. send an email to UA CS....

The only host software that has Scrolling are Steinberg apps...and

even then.. WaveLab doesn't

That I know of..

Sonar doesn't and neither does SAM

Waves and URS plugs both support scroll wheel for knob-twiddling and DP supports scroll wheel for faders, knobs, plugs, screen views, etc.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that response...

What did you UA say?

I have only seen Mouse scroll function work, with UAD-1, in Steinberg apps...
never in anythiong else.

I do know that UA would have to write the Scroll feature for the Host app.
I think UA has only done so for PT LE and Cubase/ Nuendo

Sorry - misunderstood your post. I wonder why UA has only written in scroll support for PTLE and Steinberg - wonder if it has something to do with those being Windows/cross-platform.....kind of weird since I would think there are more Logic and DP users than Cubase, though I could be wrong on that too

Well, the fact it is cross-platform is good. I would hate having to run a Mac, use a horribley one-button mouse and pay extensive prices because it's all propriety. (My current mouse has 5 buttons yay!)

I find it strange, that people are made to choose between their platform depending on what software they want to use. It's just not on in this day and age.

I thought Cubase was by far the most popular host?

First of all, it certainly isn't representative of the whole audio community - it's just for the UAD forum. Second, I only started it last night, when I posted the link, so it can't be representative of this community either, yet - although I'm impressed we already have 44 votes casted. Let's leave it there for a few weeks and we may get an idea for this forum (only).

BTW, of course I'm not starting a debate; I started the poll simply out of curiousity. I don't have shares in Steinberg, Digi, Apple or MOTU anyway.
