Why is there such a difference in volume between the Ruby 63's channels?

Has anyone else noticed that the "Brill" channel is loud and clean, but the two other channels are lower in volume and always distorted? I'd really like to get a less overdriven sound from the "Via" channel. I.e. similar to "Brill" but with the tremolo effect.

The "Brill" channel sounds amazing but I am struggling with the other two channels. What are your experience with the Ruby '63. I love my Lion 68 and Dream '65 is really good, so I ordered a Ruby '63 to get a good Vox sound and the Ruby does that really well when I am using the Brill channel, but it's a bit strange that the two other channels sound weaker in volume and won't clean up like "Brill" do.

(And yes I have updated the firmware to the latest version.)

Ruby is an accurate reproduction of the original amp, as are the others. I usually start with a preset, tweak it and save it.

As Les notes, the uafx amps mimic the original amps. Find a 1960s Vox ac30 and you'll encounter the same behavior. It's why they sound the way they sound.

Sure, I understand that it mimics the original amps. But in this case the switch is switching between three different amps and then there is no reason why the should have different output level, is there? I don't hear that "problem" with my Lion or Dream. I just thought it was a bug that others had experienced too.

But the "Brill" sounds really, really good and Vox:y.

Are you in live mode or preset mode?
Try switching amp models while you’re on a preset (in preset mode).

I haven't had time to use it that much, but I have only been in preset mode and used the presets as a starting point and when changing between the there different AC 30s I was surprised that they varied so much in volume, hence the question above.

No big deal, I was just surprised. The important thing is that it sounds really good and it will be very useful fro me when over dubbing either Lion or Dream.

From my point of view the best sound to be had on the Ruby is with the Normal channel maxed along with maxed out boost. Have you tried that? I've saved that as a preset and adjusted output to compensate.

Since I got the Lion for Christmas, I'm running that and the Ruby in stereo parallel goodness.

Thanks. I will try your settings.

I have the Lion too. I was so impressed by it that I first bought Dream and then Ruby before the sale closed. :)

Lion and Ruby in stereo sounds interesting... I will try that too.

Its 3 different amps so I am thinking mostly the difference in volume is due to the linearity of the original amps volume controls more than anything.

It's like Having Brian May and Edward Van Halen playing in the room minus the talent.

The sale was bad news for my bank balance. I got the Ruby, Woodrow and Dream over November and December and put in a request to Father Christmas. 🎁 🦁
