Will this work?

I'm thinking about buying the studio pack and wondering how it'll all work.

Ideally I would like to be able to use these plugins with all my software apps:
-Pro Tools LE 6.7
-DP 4.5
-Ableton Live 4.03

I'm running on a G5 Powermac 2.5G DP with OSX 10.3.5 (latest approved by Digidesign)

There seems to be a lot of enthusiasm for how these plugins sound, so I'm not worried about sound quality.
It looks like all the plugins come in RTAS, MAS, AU and VST, so I don't think compatibility will be an issue.

Also - correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the plugins will only run on the processor on the UAD card (as opposed to the host CPU) - is that correct?

first question: Is anyone running on the G5 DP machines? I've heard there are problems with the UAD card in these machines - or was that only with multiple UAD cards.(?)

next: Is there any reference that will give me some kind of idea how power-hungry the plugins are and how much power is available on the UAD card? A simple list of how many instances of each plugin will run on the card would be a great ballpark.

I'm trying to figure out if I'd need more than one of these for a typical (30-40 track) mix.

Thanks all
Jack

There's a special VST2RTAS wrapper for UAD (You can download it for free once you've registered your Project or Studio Pak).

Yes.

Thanks - can't believe I missed the chart javascript:emoticon('')

Still wondering if anyone's running on one of the latest G5 DP Macs - it's looking like one of these cards probably isn't going to be enough.

Initial tests are fine here, but I will have to see what heppens when I start my new projects this year(lots of vocal tracks).

The thing is, I'm only using AudioUnit not RTAS.

I'm a Nuendo user with a dual G5 2.0. The AMD chipset in the G5 causes problems with the UAD cards. One way to avoid this problem is a Magma chassis, which bypasses the chipset somewhat. It's a chassis that has PCI slots in it and plugs in to a PCI slot in the computer My peformance has improved since I bought this and it has allowed me to use the maximum four cards.

I should also say that to me four cards is not enough, let alone one.
