Apple Introduces Boot Camp
Public Beta Software Enables Intel-based Macs to Run Windows XP

http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2006/ap ... tcamp.html

What do you think about this? And has anyone tried it?

I just thought of something else, why bother writing codes for OSX.

will developers just write codes for windows?

I'm not making anything big about it. I don't see what the big deal is.

It's simply a dual-boot system that can run YOUR PURCHASED version of Windows on an Intel chip.

yeah, so...

(how can you tell I'm not a Mac guy) :p

This is good for people who also like to play games (for example) with their macs. OSX for producing & everything else, just like before. Maybe we'll see less games (and probably a few other programs) for osx because there may be some (but not many) software companies who think the easiest way but nobody will seriously produce music with bootcamp + xp if you can use osx. All the pro audio companies like UA should take that for granted.

People buy mac for osx, not for windows. Apple doesn't even support using windows with the bootcamp software. Apple made the bootcamp available for the reason that so many mac users wanted to run windows with their intel macs (to play games, if you read the forums) too because it's now possible due to x86 processors and apple will get more customers because you can now make a switch to mac + osx easier because you can use windows in case you need a program or 2 which are not available for mac. :)

When the new intel osx came out I got it to run quite nicely on my PC...

In the end you pick one and work with it.

The possibility to run Win on a Mac makes me think of switching to Macs, as I finally could use Wavelab.

For UA, nothing changes, as at the moment it isn't possible to run UADs on Intel Macs. But they need to come up with a solution as soon as the Power Macs get updated to Intel processors. And for sure, they need to keep mac support, as it is a operating system, a lot of pros use. They didn't buy a mac to run Win on it...

Did it work well with 3rd party hardware?

at the end of the day i don't care what machine I use as long as I get the job done. Like I said Machine, its not my women so I can't really get heated about which is better or marching with banners. As long as it runs logic pro thats fine with me.

I never messed with it enough to know. But I would think with the right mobo and integrated/card harware it should pretty much work like the real thing. If you have too different a chipset it might not.
