WL6 audioengine.dll causes system halt/crash ?

Can you help with the following:

When I render a file within WL6 with UAD plugins using a preset sometimes WL6 stalls or causes a Blue Screen just at the end of the rendering process (100%)
In the eventviewer we see the audioengine.dll mentioned at the moment of halt/crash.

No memory problems I think: 2GB memory: 1700 Mb available
System CPU load is normal 50% during rendering
UAD 21%

What I did:
Updated video driver with latest NVidia driver and updated RME HDSP 294.1 to 294.3 (= latest)

No problems with N3 at all so can I say that rules out hardware problems?
From Microsoft: it is mostly caused by a faulty driver so that's why I believe it could be related to this audioengine.dll.

Note: Rendering the same file in WL5 works without problems

Any idea if this could be UAD related?

Best Regards,

Hi Raymond,

well, never-ever had this \"crash\" *knock-knock-knock*

If it works in N3 and WL5 this points IMO to WL6 then. Did you post that on the Wavelab forum too?

Hi Chris,

In fact I started at the WL forum but PG recommended to make a call here based upon the messages in eventviewer. Could you give me the chksum of your audioengine.dll just to see if it is not damaged?

Hi Chris,

I have checked WL5 and it is the same. I'm not in the studio to check WL6 but I will let you know.
Interesting info from Philippe:
\"The processing of VST plugins has been changed between 5 and 6, especially to accomodates UAD plugins (!). These were changes requested by UAD and theses changes have been tested and approved by UAD\"

Hopefully it is just a tweak and everything will be fine,

Fingers crossed.

Hi Raymond,
IF you have a 100% repro, I could try here... (with WL6)

Hi Chris,

I am not in the studio but in fact it happens with whatever file if you render it 3 times.

(in a normal situation you would make some adjustments in between but for the proof of concept not necessary)

Plugins used in the master section:
1 Pultec Pro
2 PEQ
3 1176
4 PL

See what happens,

Greetings Raymond,

1 Pultec Pro
2 PEQ (all bands ON, HPF10Hz)
3 1176 LN
4 PL (set to 3dB gain reduction)

I did 4 renders with \"named file\": no problem
I did 3 renders with \"process in place\": no problem

I am running:
- WL 6.00b(b291)
- SyncroSoft 5.0.2.0

Have you tried if it makes a difference if the plugins(UAD) GUIs are shown or not? (while doing the renders)

And have you checked with \"other\" plugins, native and/ or Powercore? (in WL6)

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris,

what other plugins... ;)

Sorry forgot to mention: we used batch processing without GUI

Hi Chris,

the chksum for the audioengine.dll of WL6 is also identical so that rules out corruption.
I have sent the info to UAD. Hope they can solve this issue.

We have possibly a file and preset to do a repro
(it crashed on the second time rendering in batch to the same path)
