This one works so good, I still can't believe it :
Mainboard S-775 INTEL DG965WHMKR, ATX
(1 x PCI-E x16, 3 x PCI-E x1, 3 x PCI
Intel G965 + ICH8R, 4 x DDR2-800
CPU FSB 533/800/1066MHz, 1 x UDMA133
LAN 1 GBit, 10 x USB, 6 x S-ATA II, Firewire
7.1 HD Audio, Intel GMA 3000 onboard VGA)
2GB RAM (DDR-2 800)
Intel E6700
Prozessor Cooler ZALMAN CNPS9700 NT
Graphics Card PCI-E ASUS Extreme N7600GS TOP SILENT/HTD, 512MB (passive cooling)
Papst Fan (120mm) for main outlet,
Two SMARTCOOLER LFM1592E 92x92x25 behind the hard disks
WD Raptor 10.000 rpm (4.5ms) 74GB for the system
2x Seagate Barracuda ES 7.200rpm (8.5ms) for data and programs
Intel RAID driver installed, but disks used with SATA (makes access a little bit faster than with IDE driver from XP
Windows XP Home SP2
2x UAD-1 PCi, 1x UAD-1 PCi-e
Kore (Native Instrument) used as sound card
Cubase Studio 4, Wavelab Studio 6
This one works like a charm, is stable like a rock, and most of all very silent. If you are going for a new DAW and want to keep the proce/performance ratio within boundaries (ok, the 6700 isn't cost efficient, but the 15% performance increase compared to the 6600 in regards to audio made it worth for me), I can highly recommend this setup.
