X6 Works But X4 Doesn’t on PC

UPDATE: it works now.
I first had to update the X4 firmware on my MacBook.
I then updated my motherboards bios on my pc which included a thunderbolt driver update.

Strange that the X6 worked fine on the older bios/ TB driver but the X4 didn’t.
Oh well, problem solved.

I currently own and have been using an X6 successfully with Windows for 2 years.
I decided to add another unit for expansion. An X4.

I plugged the X4 into the X6 daisy chained, and nothing happened. It wasn’t recognised.
So I unplugged the X6 and plugged the X4 directly to the computer and still nothing happened.


I updated all UAD software. Tried to register the X4 incase I needed some specific drivers but after restart the browser window didn’t open so I couldn’t continue. Tried this a few times. I know I’ll need to add it to my account but it should still show in as a device without this.

I tried the X4 on my MacBook and it picks it up right away and works. So it’s a windows issue. The X4 shows up in thunder bolt control centre on PC when plugged in directly but UA software doesn’t see it.

Makes me think the X4 needs specific drivers to work but they don’t seem to exist when searching for the them. The only software is the UA console etc. and that’s all up to date.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

x4 and x6 both use the same driver installed by the UAD installer.

It is super strange the x4 works on the Mac with the exact same cable.

Go to help.uaudio.com, click on the blue Support bot and type “create ticket”. Post the # here and I'll direct it to a PC savvy agent

Yes it is strange. Same cables on Mac and pc.
I’ve tried everything I can think of and no luck.

This just triggered a memory for me. Were you offered a firmware update when it was connected to the Mac??

It did not ask for firmware update.
it was just plug n play with the Mac.
