You ever have a guitar/bass/instrument that you "think" you are done with.......

Then you pull it out to give it "one more chance" and then it just kinda takes over? I have one of these:

I also have the "prestige version", but thought I'd try this one more time. Man, I can't put it down! Anyways, that ever happen to others here?

That's pretty much why I rarely ever sell guitars, amps, studio gear etc. I have accumulated a lot of guitars in particular, some get used more than others, some I take a long time to getting around to. Too often I find myself reaching for something ( acoustic or electric ) that I haven't used for a while, but it just happens to be the right thing for the track I'm working on. The instrument then finds its way into the "in use" rack and I find myself using it on a regular basis again.

True!
There have even been times when I've sold gear only to buy it again a few months/years later. Since I've done the rounds a few times, I've stopped making rash sales just because I don't use it for a few months.
Its time will come again.

Well, especially in 2023, I had this huge "oh snickers" thing going on and bought too much. The Prestige Ibby bass 5005 is a keeper, and of course the Suhr ain't going anywhere. But the "Prestige" version of that guitar I bought was a stupid purchase. "Oooo, I MUST have the Prestige version because more money is better" was dumb. It's fantastic, but it's unnecessary and that one I showed actually plays mo' buttery and sounds virtually the same. So I'm selling the Prestige. I'm almost done, I'll have 4 when I'm finished: The one 5 string bass and 3 "super" strats.

Not gassing at all over guitars/basses, but I was bad last year.

I am currently watching a YT feed of the Mark Knopfler auction from Christies in London. At these prices, no one ever need feel bad about spending some money on an unnecessary guitar . £470 k for the 1983 Money for Nothing Les Paul reissue . Crazy stuff.

Crazy stuff.
Totally.
I will never understand what attracts people to it.
It can only be too much money and a good dose of boredom.
The jeans with Kurt C's farts are even better.

I remember wanting the "Blackie" redo way way back for about 20k. What, now that would be 100k+? Yeah, too much money. Dentists don't agree :ROFLMAO:

Well, the guitar I was interested in at yesterdays auction went for £40k. Thank goodness I already have one from the same luthier but with better spec ( for me) and though it was not cheap, it didn't cost me £40k :).
Strangely enough, it was a guitar with way more rarity, from a maker with a world class reputation and a very long order book, made from holy grail wood choices, and a guitar that Knopfler actually used quite a bit. Yet it got proportionally less interest than some absolutely uninteresting stuff with the only link being that it had been in MK's gear locker at some point. It was all mildly entertaining for all that.
